What killed these big Chrysler’s was whenever there was a gas shortage or the price of fuel went up everyone who owned one was looking to get rid of it. Then there were the racers who’d buy one to rip out the big 440. Very few survived...this ones a sweetheart! Thx again Lou!

My family had a '69 Chrysler Newport Custom. A nice and big car. The Newports, 300, and New Yorker were the same except for grills, taillights, and interior fitments.

The last year for full sized convertibles. Conceptually the Chrysler 300 competed against the Olds Delta 88 Royale, the Buick Wildcat Custom and the Mercury Maurader X-100 but they were priced higher. Price wise they were competitive with the Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight and Buick Electra 225 Custom. They were not cheap. This car is a great find especially since it was the last year for the big Chrysler convertibles. The Plymouth convertibles were only available in the Fury III series and Dodge only offered the base Polara in convertible form. Chrysler also had the well appointed Newport.

This car is a great comment on what America was at one point...and what weve sunk to at present. Contrast this vehicle as an great, cool art work AND what were now supposed to be glad to pay $ 30 K, and up, and be pleased with what we have to put up with now. Cars like this are a real measure of how far down this country has spiraled.

I have never seen either a ‘69 or ‘70 300 convertible. I remember when the new ‘69’s were introduced with the new “fuselage” body. It was quite a hit at the time. Heck, even Marcus Welby drove a 300 4 door hardtop on TV.

A really beautiful Chrysler. Always loved the 69 to 73 fuseilage styling. The styling was the equivalent to Brutalism in architecture. The hideaway headlights are awesome!

Brutality? Well, to the gaggle of efete art snobs who see every great American achievement as being a crude exercise, THOSE people may feel the Chrysler's prior to the NGO/govrrnment/media induced downsizing (and uglification) as being terrible. Everyone else? Well, there's a reason people are waving and cheering at stoplights. If it was up to me part, I would install a set back Aluminum block HEMI with like a 200-300 shot of nitrous and do the most obnoxious burn outs possible at street lights...just for SPITE....

@@cindylawrence1515 I don't think you understood my comment. Please look up Brutalism -- an architectural style that started in the later 50s and pretty much ended by the early 70s. You will the similarities between that concrete style and the sheet metal design of the big fuselage Chrysler Corporation cars. By the way, I had a 69 Plymouth VIP, (a more elegant Fury III) for many years and loved it.

Very cool 300 - it's not a TNT-Engine - E85 code and the "T" in the VIN means: 350 SAE-HP engine with single exhaust. TNT would have the E86 code and the "U" in the VIN.

Very Nice Chrysler! I don't think it is the TNT. The TNT's came with dual snorkel air cleaner and dual exhaust and had a different cam. Still a very nice example of a 70 Chrysler 300!

When I was last in Elmhurst, IL I rolled into the parking lot in a 1968 Chrysler 300 and in 5 minutes as a lifetime member without membership dues but sadly now I no longer have that car. Second rarest 300 ever built in history.

This car needs some subtle work like a better cam, some good relieving, porting and polishing the heads. Then it needs good SS long headers and hermholtzer mufflers, and perhaps a moderate size blower. Nothing radical just bolt in/on acessories. Cause tell ya folks..what this car needs is the ability to do cool burnouts at stoplights and supermarket parking lot exits......

Someone put a TNT pie tin on the air cleaner. This is not the HP or TNT version. The TNT is as rare as hens teeth in these cars. All TNT’s had dual snorkel air cleaners, different exhaust manifolds and the engines were Hemi orange not blue.
