1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible Purple 383 Engine 4 Speed Ride My Car Story with Lou Costabile

On "My Car Story" we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago IL on 5-31-2020.
We're looking at a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible in Plum Crazy Purple Paint. The car comes with the factory 383 CI V8 engine and 4 Speed manual transmission with the “Pistol Grip” shifter.
The car's Owner is Sean Bransky. Sean’s had this car since 2017. He shares this car kind of found him. A Friend called him up and let him know he heard of a car for sale that has been sitting since 1992 and the Owner near him was interested in selling it. Turns out the car was less than 8 miles away.

My wife's Father has a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T Convertible with a 426 Hemi and 4 Speed that he bought brand new in the fall of 1969. It is an Original Unrestored "Survivor" car, that is Orange. As daddies little girl my wife gets to drive it on occasion on a Sunny Sunday morning, when we are far from her dad's I get my turn. What a ride, Wow.

Interestingly I passed on buying a70:Challenger 4 SPD/ MAGNUM RT, ETC, ( Green / Black interior loaded),due to,color and gas MILEAGE IN engine , also looked like massive tires would chew/ body & paint up, etc. My wife would have been driving many miles to,School in 70-71,& she not like DODGE Geeen. Anyways, buying a new 70:Coronet 500/383/ automatic, no a/c, but loaded otherwise.. wanted horsepower but not AIR in the day..Interestingly, the DODGE/ AMC Dealer had an: AMC MACHINE ALSO, THE RD/ White / Blue was interesting...!

Omg this is the car that made me fall in love with muscle cars my uncle had an identical car to this and same exact color, 1970 R/T Challenger, 383, 4 speed, plum crazy, white convertible top and white interior he bought it when he came back from Vietnam but after owning it a few years he was sitting at a redlight and a little old lady didn't see him sitting still at a redlight and smashed into him and totaled the car.

Thanks, also...interestingly I bought a 70 CORONET 500/383/RALLEY RED,/Int Black auto in 1970:: passing on the CHALLENGER RT MAGNUM/4 SPD/DODGE DEEP GREEN COLOR, ALOADED CAR:: we had lots of School miles to,drive and we did not care for Green,and the Magnum sounded ferocious ( actually my regular 383/4 BBL WAS MEAN)......

Plum Crazy Great color Awesome car, i don't blame him for wanting to drive this one. Little story.... My Nephew knew i was a car guy and was always trying to stump me with a question about cars from the 60's and 70's anyways maybe 10 years ago he brought up a picture on his computer and asked me what color did the factory call this? took me 1 sec, I said Plum Crazy,..... he went nuts thought he had me for sure, I just laughed. Lou, The original buyer chose the sensible 383 engine . The money they saved by not ordering a Hemi was probably used for the down payment on a house ;)

Not scoffing at this excellent car at all, but you've got to admit had the original owner ponied up the extra money for the Hemi he'd today have a car that could easily buy a house, not just put a downpayment on one. And the house would be a mighty fine one.
