Scott Speed Shop's very own Ratty Street Bruiser, 1970 Dodge Charger. A big block 440 is fed by two 625 demon carbs through a pre-production Weiand tunnel ram, into the 11.0-1 compression combustion chambers where the Hughes Whiplash cam makes a wicked cackling sounds that is forced through a set of vintage Hooker Headers out into the exhaust Zoomies. She was brought back from the dead and now proves that no car should be a "PARTS CAR".

My dream ever since I can remember, I dreamed of doing this with my dad, many memories riding around in all the crude looking,but cool cars, unfortunately he turned out to be a bad man. I haven't figured out how to forgive him yet for what he did and lost contact with him 20 years ago this summer. I'm 38 now, and been using a wheelchair for 20 years ago this summer, through out my time being handicapped it's been tough which is normal, but I've learned to work on the same dream just by myself, I've watched and listened to this particular video at least a dozen times since I discovered it a few years ago and I still do every time I need some determination, so I just wanted to let you know how much inspiration this video gives me, with all my heart bro, Thank you.

Kevin, I appreciate you writing me, no comment goes unread on this channel, and whatever it is that your Dad did that has caused you so much grief, I am very saddened to here that. I can only hope that you two can maybe find a way to reconnect, our time on this Earth is a short one, and I hate to see anyone feel that way about their father, but I can also understand depending on the circumstances. It is none of my business what happened between you two, but I do appreciate you have said, if there is anything I can do to help you my friend, you just let me know.

I bought my first car when I was 15 Drive it home on my learners license with the guy I bought it from. It was a ‘68 BEAT to shit Satellite. Back then there no “rat rods” just beat up iron you could buy for $300 I drove that car with the nickels and dimes I had. I didn’t intentionally build a beat up car. 35 years later the car is still flat black with no interior. I’ll never “restore it” it reminds me where I came from.

Awesome 👍. I'd love to own a charger. But anyhow I'm working on a deal now for this bronze copper colored one that has a 383 with ac needs a ton of work .But I own a 72 roadrunner 340 with factree ac. A 69 superbee has a Dana 60 under the rear 440 on the stand with 3 carbs on it . A 71 fatty ratty satty (aka satellite.) That's getting a 383 with 2 four barrels and some old 70"s power wagons . I have to get some 3 inch shoes and radiuses for my Ben Pearson pipe bender so I can get the exhaust done . Hope to drive one of these to Carlisle at Mopar nationals before I croak over since it's just me doing all the work. Ahhhhhhhhhh it never ends . Cool videos 👍. That's areally nice Charger and I'm glad you took the time and effort to resurrect a '70 Charger. I hope when you paint it, that you keep it the same or darker blue and PLEASE, don't kill the look with a white stripe, make it black please. I actually like those Keystone mags on her, but if she was mine, satin centerlines or 5-Star Mags would be my pick.
@ScottsSpeedShop
@ScottsSpeedShop 6 жыл бұрын
If and when I re-paint my Charger it will go back to the original B5 Brilliant Blue metallic color she wore from the factory, which she still wears for the most part. I have decided against tail stripes. Someday she will go back all original just because there aren't many examples of Chargers like mine being restored, 318-2 barrel, bench seat, column shift, b5 interior, b5 exterior, No A/C, no power brakes, an absolute bare bones driver. But that sort of restoration is far far into the future, I am going to enjoy my Charger as a nostalgia race car, if you watch the updated videos on my channel, you will understand what I am going for. Thank you for checking out the video and for liking my Charger

Hiya Jed, I wanted to ask you two questions... I watched this earlier and talk about a discovery! I didn't even know those numbers were there at 8:03!!! So I went to go and check my cars... I wanted to ask: how do you read the date sequence? By the way; I'm referencing my Satellite, which is supposed to be a 383 car, but to my surprise I saw E440 stamped in the same spot as it is on this engine. The rest is throwing me, it then has a clover type symbol then an X, underneath E440 is an upside down A then spaced away from the A is a sideways 1. Underneath that is the numbers (printed spaced like this): 11 16. ... What does this tell me?? So that's on my satellite... Then I wanted to decode the 383 in my charger... Went to see but the little section wasn't there, I'm just seeing the water pump housing!!! Why isn't it there for that engine?! I'm so puzzled, I don't know what to think.. Any info would be a great help!.. And congrats on getting Jezebel back kicking!!!!
@ScottsSpeedShop
@ScottsSpeedShop 4 жыл бұрын
Okay, you got quite a bit of info there that needs answering so I will do my best. The pad I showed at the time stamp is only on RB engines, like 440's, 413's, and 426 engines. The ID pad on a 383 is located near the water pump mounting flange milled at an angle on either the driver or passenger side(I cannot remember which side atm). The Maltese cross(clover looking thing) is a factory stamp that tells you that your crankshaft was ground at the factory to .001" smaller than normal due to a defect. There is nothing wrong with that, that is fairly common, however that coupled with the "X" means your crank was cut .010" at the factory, again this is not a big deal. When you go to buy new bearings, you will have to buy oversized bearings for it. My 440 in Jezebel was exactly the same, it has the Maltese Cross and the X on it as well. As far as the extra numbers, they could be a date stamping, but it is really hard to say. I hope this helps you man, if you need anything else, shoot me an email or message me on facebook.
@71plymouth.
@71plymouth. 4 жыл бұрын
@@ScottsSpeedShop Thanks a million!! And, also; Thank You for showing that pad in the video. Hahaha, I'm going to write down everything you just told me to remember when I start on this engine. Hmm, that's pretty interesting info on the cross and X! To be honest, I've just got my feelings hurt finding this out.. All these years I've thought that my car still had the original 383, it was special to me, because it's a Satellite and someone ordered it like that.. Glad I know now, though.. But yeah... I'm defintely going to refer to you on stuff Brother! I'm at the outskirts of starting on my cars, defintely going to be getting something done next year. Thanks again for the help! Clear coat the rust at least so it doesn't rust away. Also, you gotta come out and do a collaborative video with me and Junkerup. ... don't be afraid to put some miles one it... ;-) unless of course it's just a poser car made to follow the rat rod fad that's all the craze nowadays...
@ScottsSpeedShop

She is far from a poser... but I am putting a 3.91 gear in it as soon as the 440 is back in its rightful place. I like driving the car, but Jezebel is not my favorite car to drive. I'd like to meet up with ya'll but I won't promise anything.

What did you use for the front grill? The home-brewed chicken wire seems like the look for late 60's charger's these days.

The mesh I used came from one of the rock quarries Dad works in, it was a damaged section of stainless steel screening from a rock crusher. A full sheet of this stuff cost close to 2000 dollars, but since it was damaged we got it free. I am going to be putting my 70 Charger grill into the car soon.
