When I was 19 in 73', I had a 440-6 SuperBee, mine had the power bulge hood, I believe not many of them around, mine was a 727 column shifted, Dana60 with 4:10's, power front discs, buckets, no center console, full insterments, go-wing, chin spoilers, red with black "Bumblebee stripe, the hood was flat black and the bulge was left red, looked really cool. I liked having the L60's fit right in the wheel wells, skinny front tires. Mine did not like going around corners! I have pictures but don't know how to put them on here. Wish I still had it. 😞 I'm now driving a 69' Swinger 340 4spd. Fun to drive, but wish I had the "Bee"!

I had a 1970 Coronet R/T 440 Magnum in 1974 when I was a junior in High School. I only paid $1100 for it. I was in Auto Mechanics Voc Tech, so I installed what was equivalent to one of the Scat Packages on it myself. I had an Edelbrock intake, Holley 850 double-pumper carb, Hooker Headers, and Accel ignition, but stock cam and valve train. Even with a Torqueflite auto trans (with a "shift kit") and a 3:73 rear end, with Mickey Thompson fat tires on the back it even caught rubber going from second the third and was practically unbeatable on the street. I though it was pretty ugly though, because it was "Plumb Crazy" purple with a white stripe around the tail and had white bucket seats with a console and black carpet. My mom sold it for $1000 after I went in the Air Force! Wish I still had that car!

The car companies started making their cars, especially the muscle cars more aggressive looking, including the front ends throughout the '60's! 1970 was the beginning of the end with the MoPars, Mustangs and Mercurys! GM started to tame their looks down in 1970! The 1970 bee wing bumper/grilles were matched in back with their tail,brake/backup lights in smaller proportions on the Coronet and Super Bee, but altered with the Coronet 500 and R/T! And you can call the special paint "Psychedelic Rainbow of Colors"! And then, you ad the Mod Tops and interiors to the mix! The music and the cars from back then...!

I guess you can say I am lucky enuff to remember when musclecars were an everyday occurrence as they roamed the streets looking for the next street race. Not only that back then people were Hotrodding anything with a V8 and 4 wheels. Not everyone could afford a brand new factory racer so they put together what they could get. Some of them were not fast at all but they played the game by sticking cragar rims on and adding glass pack mufflers which made any V8 sound good.

The Sting of The Yellow Super Bee 440 6-Pack Mopar or no Car Man 😎
@woestynkusdorp65546 жыл бұрын
The Super Bee came out half way through the q1968 model yesr. It was priced $500 higher than the Roadrunner, with an upgraded interior (carpet instead of a rubber floor cover) and a Rally dash from the Charger. It also had the option for $15 of a viscous fan with a fan shroud that was available in the Roadrunner without air conditioning. The reason a high percentage of Super Bees have manual transmissions, in the Dodge R/T manual required the expensive Track Pack or Super Track Pack, while in the Super Bee it was no extra cost. The Roadrunner was $500 cheaper and attracted those that would save money and want an automatic transmission. For the price of the Super Bee an automatic R/T with a 440 could be had, so automatic wasn't so popular in the Super Bee, because for the money a larger engine could be had for those that wanted an automatic and that became more popular for the R/T.
