1970 Ford Falcon AOD Shifter Cable Bracket Install Attempt. So many mistakes…

Is your gear selector arm bushing and stud the opposite side of my foxbody or the video cause I'm having a issue and I wonder if mines facing the wrong way

This transmission came from a Grand Marquis. The shifter arm orientation is different depending on column or floor shift version. I had an extra AOD used this for mock-up of the bracket/cable to get me in the ballpark. The one in the falcon is facing down and tv cable bracket goes up

Could I have that stud u took out with the hammer my threads are messed up and I can't get my bm hammer shifter to work with the stock cable anymore I didn't put it in so I'm trying to get it to work to get it there

That’s what I have now but it will need a bushing as the sizing on the cable/bracket are way different. I have a nut and bolt that works, but it’s super sloppy and I can’t hit 1st yet. Partly a bracket problem. I’m going to run the Lokar style bracket next. It’s pricey but way more adjustment for custom application like I have in the falcon.

@@WrenchingWrecked ya my bm hammer shifter when I got it they didn't have a cable for the 87-93 foxbody now they sell a cable and bracket set for 125$ ,the cars going sit till I sell it or fix it but I need a lift working on the tar with ramps and stands sucks and to cold in Massachusetts

@@Mattys91gt I hear that. I was pissed about the price and tried making one. It works but not well. Could do it better now that it’s in but fighting 100000000 variables making parts fit as is. I bought a hurst/bm cable bracket and it isn’t even remotely close to correct geometry.

I can't watch anymore of this. You're worried about stripping a bolt into the trans rail so you use power tools. Why dont you cough up the 20.00 bucks and buy the proper bracket from b and m and save the guess work....

I actually did get he B&M mount too, didn't fit without modifications and the alignment spacing for the cable didn't work for me either.

@WrenchingWrecked I bought one from Summit, tried like he'll to install it. Then I discovered I was not using the correct position on the pan. It installs in one of the holes after the taper in the case. After that, everything lined up perfect.
