If they reopened the factory and made these to the original specification they'd have orders for 50 years.

No shit. I'd order two 426's , one in all white and one in all green. One in manual, one in automatic. Forget the vinyl roof, thank you. Convertibles available? Hell Yeah!

@butchtropic Most cars I had, AC was fried and even those that worked I never used it since I always keep window down - driving too fast. It's all about looks and performance. Comfort is negligible.

Very first car when I was 15 1/2 yrs. old that I bought..all on my own , was a '69 Barracuda(the older longer style) then bought a '71 later, and had a '72 later..but only for 3 weeks when some dillhole ran a red light and t-boned in the side with his truck. Was actually looking for a Challenger at the time I bought the '71 and later the '72, but came across the 'Cuda's, and loved those damn cars!

My first car was for my 1973 H S graduation present. It was a brand new off the dealership showroom floor 1973 340 Cuda as I said in the comments. I too wanted a Challenger, that was the car my cousin had: 1970 383 4 speed. So, since he had that car, I got a Cuda since we hung out together with the same friends. Hope you enjoyed those cars as much as I liked mine. Parents I realized sacrificed a lot to give me that car as they were by no means rich. School teacher and a housewife.

My Husband used to have a 68 and a 70 he liked the 68 better more metal and fold down back seat the 70 was more plastic inside and the door panels would rot from the heat you could run your finger nails down them and they would leave a mark.

@@cindysue5474for me personally challenger and charger 1969 and 1970 are overrated only thing I liked is the 1970 Dodge Challenger commercial you could be Dodge material Cheryln Miller girl and if I had to choose Dodge I choose 1971 Dodge demon so underpreceated but good for lightweight car

1970 Cuda 2-dr HT $3164.00 production total 18,880 . The "Street Hemi" was an $871.85 extra in Torquflite equipped "Cudas" Few were ordered. The Six pack 440 was $250.00. The AAR Cuda was offered in the spring of 1970 with special performance features for the Trans AM racing circuit. Production of 2.800 units was programmed, but the exact number of AA Cudas is unknown. Of ALL Chrysler products this year only 1,606 had the "Street Hemi"

In the mid 1970s my first car was a 'Cuda only because it was so much less money used than a Mustang or Camaro. As a teenager I feel in love with Mopar. I drove it like I stole it held up pretty good. It came with a color coded high rise manifold and Holley carb and only 30k miles in that Chrysler blue color. Its funny how the 383 had 330HP and they get that out of most V6s today but it was still a super fun car.

Came in right before I was being shipped overseas while in the marine Corp. got to see the best street race ever. A 70 cuda 383-4 speed and a 70 z-28 4 speed. Both cars stock except they put slicks on them and I don’t think they changed the gear ratio. The z won but barely and my friend that use to own the cuda said the guy must have missed a gear. I’ll never forget- I was standing behind them when they started- both cars looked like they started swelling up and then both had their wheels come off the ground. I’ll never forget

I had the opportunity to buy a 70 Gran Coupe 383 4bbl ( 330 hp) auto in gold on green, in 1999, for $2k. It was pretty rusty, but ran good and was a complete car. Interior was good, needed carpeting. The car had factory a/c, p/s, pdiscs, Tuff wheel, rallye wheels, dual outside mirrors, Am/Fm ( still worked) fold down frt buddy seat, and CC. The car had been in a metal storage container for 10 yrs. But the rear frame on the drivers side was gone, and the trunk floor was swiss cheese. ( and of course rear quarters and extensions) I passed on it. I shouldn't have.. I found out later that the car as optioned was rare. about 467 made... Now rusted out hulks demand big bucks!

The shaker hood was actually a engineering mistake so instead of solving the problem they just called it a shaker hood. A lot more Hemi motors would have been ordered but you could not get air conditioning with them.

@orange70383
@orange70383 6 жыл бұрын
Both are exactly the same body and dimensions, the only difference was the base engines and for the cuda you got upgraded suspension and styling features. But you could order a regular barracuda with a 383 4-bbl. Also the barracuda gran coupe had a slightly fancier interior, it had better seat material like leather or hounds tooth an overhead console info center that lit up for low fuel door ajar and I think seatbelts..

How about you other people that grew up in the 60s and 70s? 💩💩💩 I had a brand new, off the showroom floor 1973 340 Cuda for about 3 years.
