My uncle and I built one with the exact same color back in the early 70's. We put and air conditioner in ours. We built it at his gas station so we were lucky to have a lift.

it is a Beautiful Car as a young boy in the 1970s i remember staring at the Ads in the back of my Dads Popular Mechanics magazines he would leave them in our Bathroom and i couldn’t wait to read them and checkout all the CoolVW Aircooled based kits it kind of felt like people were coming up with new ones every day

That looks awesome. I missed out on one a couple weeks ago that was for sale for $3500 on Facebook market place in Michigan.

It’s Gull wing doors not Gulf wing! Gull as in Seagull! Looks like a 1300 VW bug flat 4 engine!

@@tonyb1968 Thanks for the response, I purchased the one I went to see, it didn’t look like it was 3 or so years old even though it was a 1968. Enjoying it now at shows etc, The guy over the show and manager of the Hardee’s we parked at last night pleaded with us to come back saying you a bringing in the passer buyers the last two weekends and it’s great for us. LOL It is a fun car and gets almost too much attention at times you in a hurry.
