1970 simplicity broadmoor 728 garden tractor sat for 12 years! can I give it new life??

Just picked one up. How did you determine year of the tractor?

Andrew, I used tractordata.com plus looked at the date code of the engine.they are a great tractor. They were only produced from 70-72

The one I just picked up today is missing the pull rope cup I just realized thanks to your video. Should I be able to turn the engine by turning the screen? It might be locked up if so.

Andrew, yes I was able to place my hand on the screen and turn the engine with my hand. If it doesn't want to turn, or won't turn then remove the spark plug and fill the cylinder up with a good penetrating oil, or even some transmission fluid or kerosene or diesel fuel. Let it sit a day or two and then try and turn it again if it still won't turn by hand or with minor persuasion with a wrench or ratchet then it's time to pull the head off and have a look inside.best of luck on it. What’d you pay for her? Is 300 worth it for one with a tiller snowblower and mower deck

Hunter, I gave under 100 for it non running. Sold it for alittle under 300. I'd say. It's worth 300 for sure with attachments

I’ve got one from the same year. It runs great. Only big issues I’ve had are the deck belts shredding if the deck is lowered too far. The deck belt will also come loose sometimes when you release the PTO lever after mowing.

I haven't had either of those issues on this one. On the 637 I had in my earlier videos I had the problem with the belt coming off if you released th pto lever to quickly but a simple linkage adjustment cured that issue. They are such neat and fun old tractors. I don't think they are nearly as appreciated or sought after as they should be. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on my videos.
