The BYRDS had a quite original folky/ 12 string / psychedelic rock. Some great hits came from this exceptional group. Props to the drummer. My God !

First sentence great and the second. As for the drummer.... Not in the same Band, or the same league...

All that and you still didn’t hear the song. That was just a jam session that never actually played the song. you should do the actual song from them

The Byrds did a great job with this song. I like the Roxy Music version of it much better. You should try it.

This is a great performance, but most first reactions seem to work better when you start with the studio version, if only because the production values are better. Of course, an obvious exception is Humble Pie's live version of "Black Coffee" from The Old Grey Whistle Test performance in 1973.

People assume that this song was about living in the psychedelic Era of the times. However nothing could be further from the truth. It was notably a song that was to try and emulate John Coltrane. Yeah the great jazz musician of all times. Roger b Mcguin was captivated by his legendary jazz performances. So look at how black jazz and blues musicians have played such a significant part in the world of music. Rock and Roll would have never been what it is today without the influence of black artists who formed the world looking in to something that captivated the musicians of the 60's, 70's and genuinely speaking through the history of rock and roll.

I have never seen one of these reactors who is interested in where this music and rock guitar styles came from, they have never heard of Louis Armstrong or Duke Ellington or "race records", they are oblivious to their own musical history.

This is just a jam session. If you're going to "react" to a first time, listen to the studio release.

I am totally upset, dissed and discombobulated that the performance I watched was a.) The Byrds, b.) 8 Miles High.... Are you kidding me??? SO glad I didn't queue for hours to see that 'awful noise' pretending to be the Byrds. I have always avoided listening to 1970's "Live" Byrds. I just was curious just now, so I watched. Oh God! I wished I hadn't..... 😢😢😢😢😢 So many Universes away from the Byrds I saw at the Albert Hall in 1968.....
