I've restored all 6 games of the 1970 Week 2 Howard Cosell halftime highlights segment, shown during the ABC Monday Night Football broadcast, Chiefs at Colts, on September 28, 1970.
The halftime highlight segments were always notorious for using awful-quality clips (way too bright, blown out, not crisp, etc). I found high-quality clips of the same shots/plays from the 1970 Week 2 'This Week in Pro Football' show and replaced the original clips with these.
I have re-created the original ABC on-screen graphics.
In some cases the original clips were a bit longer than the replacement shots and so I truncated parts of the narration to make things fit.
I worked on the original audio a bit, applying hiss and noise reduction.
For comparison's sake, you can see the original quality segment here and be blown away by the upgrade --- • 1970 MNF KANSAS CITY C...

The NFL in the 70s. More class, passion, humility, raw talent, integrity, toughness, literally any positive attribute you can assign something. The NFL nowadays is a shadow of it's former glory. God you old people had it so much better, must've been nice.

This week the Bears played their home game at Northwestern and the Patriots played theirs at Harvard. What a strange world it was back then. Though the Pats had my all time favorite logo on their helmets that year - Pat Patriot.

Howard is wrong when he says Harvard Stadium is in Cambridge, Mass. While most of the campus is in Cambridge, the stadium is in Boston proper (Allston neighborhood).

5:44 Landry really wanted to stick it to NY and Allie Sherman. 22 seconds left up 11 and still airing it out on a 30 yard pass play.

The coach was Alex Webster. But, he still wanted to stick it to the Giants specifically to the Mara’s for picking Sherman over him and Vince.

The Jets were done by 1970. Wouldn't have a winning record until 1981.

Cardinals and Giants were strong squads back then. Cardinals rampaged through the better half of the schedule before imploding at the end of the season. Giants really should have gone 10-4, but lost the New Orleans game, when TE, Aaron Thomas' touchdown catch was erroneously ruled out of bounds.

0:30 The Bears' final season at Northwestern University's stadium. Despite the Soldier field renovations in the 00s, the Bears would not use Northwestern again and instead play at Illinois' facilities.
