I used to go to Virdee's when I was a child, between 76 and 83.They were really friendly and welcoming, and I always came out with a large bag of sweets, no matter how much money I had.

I lived here in 1975 in Northfleet, they had shops that were open on a Sunday, also there were stickers on bus stops etc saying, 'We want your jobs, we want your homes, we want your Country'
