My questions are: Were there truck stops in the Soviet Union? Do Russian truckers drink coffee to stay awake? And since we are from the same generation, what types of music did you listen to growing up? What were radio stations like in the former Soviet Union? Did you listen to the shortwave like I did as a girl in the USA?

@@jaminova_1969 1. Yes 2. Yes 3. --- 4. Radio stations werent non-stop only from like 6:00 to 0:00, music was limited to soviet made music, almost no advertisements and a lot of information (news like how much which company has produced, and some history and other stuff) 5. Longwave was much more popular in the soviet bloc

That first image showing the heavy truck pulling the ship that's an American Lend Lease believe a 8 ton heavy transporter. Surplus ones were often used for moving houses and buildings in the usa.

I think it is called a Dyson trailer. These trailers (or modern copies) are still in use with the Indian army.

Good to see the old trucks!

The initial Kraz trucks were essentially the Soviet version of the US Diamond T, from the Kraz 214 everything has changed. Because the Soviet Union during the WWII was equipped of tank transporter from the USA.

Just small piece of knowledge: LIAZ stood for "Liberecké Automobilové Závody", which translates into "Automotive enterprises of Liberec"

0:26 Russian woman, strong like ox! I actually digitally scanned Russian CCCP maps after the collapse of the Soviet Union for a project I was working on and found them to be quite detailed and interesting! So this film is right up my alley! I hope one day soon there will be a peaceful resolution and that one day I might get to visit and travel through Russia and Ukraine.

It’s one of my life’s dreams to own a Soviet Zil-130 fire engine, probably a long shot though as I live in the USA, and importation process is complicated, time-consuming and expensive.

Trucks of this era were standard with daycabs and had engines ranging from 100 to 200 hp. (American drivers today use that engine power for pickup trucks.🤣) Note that trailers are mostly single axle trailers and double trailers. By comparison, today's trucks are powerful enough to tow a 3-axle trailer, and the cabin is like a hotel bedroom for two! More Scania. Volvo. DAF. MAN. Mercedes trucks. 🚛💪

Did they have to pull permits in the USSR if your hauling something big like boat?
@UshankaShow Жыл бұрын
In Soviet Russia, permit pulls you

The truck hauling the boat looks like the Diamond T 980 tank transporter supplied to the Soviets in WWII. Could this truck be knock off? 🤔

No TATRA 813?
@thamirivonjaahri6378 Жыл бұрын
That one was more of a heavy loader, Not your regular semi. I think you prolly meant 815 which (if memory serves me right) was used this way, though Liaz models were much more prevalent as towing trucks since towing variants were more exported. Tatra was more of a domestic sight (with exception of military models ofc., which were widely used through the entirety of Warszaw Pact)

Diesel or Gas ? what was the Cost of 1 Liter of fuel in CCCP ?
@UshankaShow Жыл бұрын
Some were diesels, most were gas like ZIL or GAZ. Gas was cheap but in short supply for private use

Were there women truck drivers in the Soviet Union? I’ve heard there were a lot of mothertruckers there.
