In 1971, Mattel's Malibu Barbie debuted. She featured a new face sculpt, including the addition of an open smile with pearly white teeth, and sparkling blue eyes that faced-forward for the first time. Malibu Barbie was the ultimate surfer girl- suntanned with long, straight hair.

I bugged my parents for at least 3 months for that helicopter and got it for Christmas was a case of this is expensive so you get on gift ... thing went threw batteries like Roseanne Barr threw a all you can eat buffet. Well until I figured out how to hook a dc plug from my brothers cassette player to it ;)

Well, let's think about this for a moment. The Boomer generation is often defined as people born from 1946 to 1964. I was born in 1956, so roughly in the middle. By 1970, I was 14, and my late wife was 24. Which is weird, when I see it in writing. We weren't in charge of anything. At 24, the oldest among us were only into the work force for a few years; 4 or 5 at the most. We did not have control of sh*t, nor much of a say until I was in my 30s (and my wife in her 40s). Our parents who ran this country wee well into their 60s, 70s, and beyond before they began to relinquish control of companies, corporations, and the government by either retiring out, or dying off. Basically, it was the mid '80s before the Boomers; we Boomers, came into our own, as far as running America. And not even then, really. My own father was born in 1930. Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the US, had been born in 1924, served as President until 1981 (and that went swimmingly well for the country). Your ire towards my generation is misplaced. It belongs squarely on the shoulders of my parents and their parents' generations.
