This was John Motson's first commentary. The game was played in the afternoon because Hereford didn't have floodlights. This is what the FA Cup was all about.

As a lifelong Hurfurd fan, THANKS for the title reminding people that this was no fluke result, but a REPLAY after a well-deserved 2 all draw at St James Park.

I'm old enough to remember all of this when it happened, but thanks for reminding me that this was a replay, something I'd totally forgotten!

Back in the day, I had a special type of loathing for Malcolm McDonald.
@RockinRedRover8 ай бұрын
it wasn't hard was it "McDonalds a Fairy" as they sang. In that first attack where "SuperMac" had the argy bargy, you can see Hereford right back Roger Griffiths number 2 lying in the floor in pain after suffering a broken leg but he battled on for 80 minutes - MacDonald was lucky our players didnt hand him one.

Well, still magical after all these years. The mud, a truly great goal, homophobic chanting, a team playing well above themselves, wonderful

Malcolm MacDonald, a player who never learned the value of shutting his mouth and letting his football do the talking.
