🙂 Even sounds like my old 1970 Javelin if you take away that tinny sound. Buy mine was that olive green color. Great fun fast car. Bought it in Oceanside, California...This brings back great memories when My Dad & I found it...Bc I couldn’t afford a blue Camaro.

The '71's had this great looking grill. Great choice leaving off the mesh. Freshens the look without messing with originality. Brilliant. Love the color. Superb resto.

Thanks Dan. Yeah, thinking about ditching the turn signals, and throwing some modern LEDs deeper in and out of sight. Never thought twice about the styling of the AMX in my youth, but dang if I don’t dig the hell out of it now. Cheers

This is a very nice AMX, one of my favorite muscle cars ever! It is fun to see that all AMC V8 engines have the belt and pulleys moving a bit on the sides not centered like Ford or GM, minor things that add character to the car! Honestly!

Absolutely gorgeous example '71 Javelin/AMX Mustard yellow 401 Go pac car. Correct grill ('71 Javelin) but missing the metal mesh AMX attachment. Thank you for sharing this!

@@MrZcotty I bought a new '71 Javelin and decided on the SST with the 401 Go Pac over the AMX. I liked the grille, no rear spoiler, added front, preferred the flat hood (accentuated fenders) with my own cold air intake system, white side blister stripes and roof insert panels on metallic green car. Liked the faux wood dash, etc. Really loved that car but the (I think) 16 gallon gas tank in the '74 fuel crisis was a problem.

I have a brand new grill in a box for a 73 AMX ITS A METAL GRILL SCREEN IF I REMEMBER RIGHT. That things been in my Garage for almost 25 years. I wish I had the Car to go with it.

Got a story to tell in 1989 me and my friend were 14 years old and his dad bought a 1974 Javelin out of a junkyard for 2500 bucks we spent the next year-and-a-half restoring the car and turned out to be a really nice car still my favorite car

First AM car to have non-symmetrical interior where right and left side interior panels are not mirror images. Pacer was next, having the whole doors unequal length for ergonomics.

It would be interesting to know the build date on your Javelin AMX. The early 401 was stated to have 330 gross horse, It indeed had closer to 360 maybe even 365 gross horse before the compression drop from 10.1 to 9.5 in October 71. What most don't realize was that the few AMX's that were ordered with the functional cowl induction, (only a little less than 25% actually were) could expect a 7 to 8% horse power increase or about another 18 horse. That was how good the cowl induction really worked over the forward facing hood scoop type. That was an expensive option as the Go Pac option that offered the cowl induction on 71 to 73 AMX,s cost just under $500.00 Expensive at the time and few wanted to spend that kind of money for it. My 1973 Javelin AMX was ordered with the Go Pac option, the induction system has been improved to to only draw outside air only with a Spectre Extraflow air filter that needs no lid, so the cowl air enters through the top and not around the sides of the air filter, makes a big difference.

it belongs to a friend, who's collection i care for. i have recently re=striped the hood and sides with factory striping, and currently installing the T=roof trim with vinyl inserts.. growing up a chevy guy, nobody really ever cared for these, but i have become quite fond of them. we searched hard for an automatic so his wife could join in the fun. :)
