You can tell by the VIN if this a GS car. If the second and third digits are 34 it is a GS, if it’s 33 it’s a regular skylark. But by the looks of it, it appears to be a skylark. Interior is that of a skylark, stage 1 fender emblems were in the wrong spot, and the grill was also a 70 skylark grill.

@@MoparDen Most of our bench seats never really had a centre arm rest either. As I say down under they were really viewed as a poor mans seat. No fancy materials, most of them were vinyl that stuck to you during the hot summer. If it was a more upmarket model you might have got an arm rest. But by far and large the bucket seats were the favored option. When I was a lad, I put some bucket seats out of a Holden Gemini (Isuzu is some countries) into my Holden Panel Van. They were ridiculously dear.

Quick question, so this is a 1971 year right? With that question being asked, I've been wondering about getting a GS grill for my Skylark. However, I prefer the 1970 grills oy far, but I've heard that all three years 70-72 had specific mounts for their grills. So I'm just wondering if yours is truly a 1971 with a 70 bumper and grill, then maybe there's hope I can buy a 70 GS grill for mine with some fab work if the mounts are different.

To fit a 1970 front bumper and grill you need: 1970 bumper brackets (between the frame and bumper) 1970 light bezels 1970 hood trim (nose) 1970 turn signal housings All those parts are one year only (1970) I don't recall drilling new holes for the grill though. Maybe some spacers BUT, I might be wrong. I hope I didn't forget anything. Good luck !

I'm just now watching this as I finished a day of tinkering with my 71 Skylark and I'm a little bit in the same boat as you as far as just buying the car without asking too many questions. I bought mine without a title and I live in Idaho so that's just gonna be a fucking battle with the bureaucratic shit show that is the DMV. $2500 for a 71 with the numbers matching 350-2, with a black spray can paint job done over the original green without any prior sanding or primer... some decent rust to say the least, and shot brakes. However I knew what I was getting into and I know how valuable these A bodies are, especially for underrated cars like Buicks and I knew if not me, someone with a lot more tools at their disposal would've bought it anyways and turned it into their dream car. It definitely blows that you overpaid for yours, but itll be worth it when you're looking at it later down the road!

You need to take a step back before spending all of that time and money on a car like that. Research it, as that A/C may have been retrofitted by the dealer back in the day. You need to decide if the investment is worth it because you can buy a reasonably priced small block GS for under 10K and be driving it today!

Is this going to be one of those channels where you get garbage for nothing with dreams of fixing them up with no funds and then it disappears and you find another project to start ripping apart? If you want ppl to subsribe and follow along you have to complete some projects so folks can enjoy the journey with you. Ive done this trip with my 69 GS in my thumbnail and yep mine was garbo front end it was mashed .. but it took me 70k to get it to a respectable car. It needed new skins all the way around that thing of mine had some serious weight reduction going on. I will say one thing though i do regret going the Prostree route with it.. i should have stopped with the Stage II 455 i had in it before that it origionally started life as a GS 350 but it wasnt a numbers matching motor and i wanted more guts in it. Soon as i went prostreet with the Blown 496 and tubbed out it was no longer so fun to go cruising with.. you could do it but it wasnt as relaxing. Anyways enough of my rambling Good luck with this Buick they are beautiful cars once fixed up.
