Finally got around to making my CCM Twin Rifle gun game working. There were a lot of issues, and I go through the challenges faced to repair this EM arcade game in this video. Convert the game from an 8-track player background sound to an inexpensive MP3, with a custom sound track (which you can download and use on your game.)
More information on this MP3 conversion can be found at pinrepair.com/...
and the MP3 player can be found at

Your knowledge, patience & skill to restore these classics is amazing. Always fun to see games from my youth that I’d long since forgotten. 👍🏻

Oh wow! When I was a kid (80s) things like this were still an occasional find in some arcades, and I was _always_ perplexed at how the playfield worked! Many thanks for finally answering those childhood questions thirty years later! ❤😁 Also; Refreshing to see some truly advanced tech that *doesn't* require an electronic connection to el-investor's mothership to keep it -being paid for- working! 😉

My childhood best friend had this arcade in his garage when I was a kid. It was fully functional. His dad had a Dire Straits 8-track tape in it. From what I remember, a track would play when a certain score was reached. We would climb inside and hold the targets when they would pop up so we could cheat 😂

Amazing. Thanks for all your arcade knowledge and telling us of the other games at that time, very interesting stuff. I played some maybe and sometimes loved and sometimes hated and moved on to video games in the arcade. Fascinating to see them work, unlike when I played them as a kid, lol.

Apologies if I missed this bit, but how does the machine know what you've hit? Do the rifles have sensors?

You can see a little how the scoring works at 2:18 in the video. There is an arm with a stylus (pointy electrical contact really) connected to each rifle's swivel mechanism that slides along a large PCB under the deck. It is covered in carefully positioned target electrical contacts that are like pinball stepper rivets. When you aim the rifle the stylus slides along the PCB and when it makes contact with a rivet that is connected to that target it completes the circuit and you get a hit. Only the contact rivets on the PCB that are connected to the active targets will score when contacted and the trigger pulled. Hard to explain it but if you see the mech you'll understand how it works.

Like another commenter, I'm very curious how the hit detection works, especially for the ducks. Maybe you could do a video on how hit detection works?

I'd like to know, there has to be a beam from the gun, how does the target know it's been hit?
