Nice work! Rag joint, so that's what that piece is called. Learned something new today. I will hopefully be redoing my column in a few weeks. This was helpful.

Cool Vic the 71 charger has 3 points of attachment under dash so you know for sure it's not for your car...the plastic squares you see are part collapsible steering column for safety.... I say 1974 charger steering column.

pro tip, i have showed a few times on my videos, in a if you can grab and old small block Chrysler push rod, it works perfect for chasing a steering roll pin out! (just don't use it in an engine again though..haha

Looks like you took the dash out before dropping the column. I'm working on a 69 and thinking the column at least needs to be dropped before taking the dash out. Thanks, this helped a lot! Good luck with your project.

I did. Only cause I wanted steering to keep moving car around. I just dropped it, took dash out and then bolted it back up.

that steering column and wheel might be from early-mid 70s C-body Mopar

Great video! I have a 1972 Plymouth Sat floor shift, so my column has the "key release collar" . This is very loose and sloppy. I've seen new ones for sale, but I'm wondering if the old one can be tightened up or if it's just "worn out".. Does anyone know?

I’d imagine there is a way. I’ve never looked into it. Let me know if you find a way.

A Cordoba tilt wheel colum would be real sweet. GM made them for Chrysler I believe.
@VicsGarage713 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't mind a tilt column lol. This one isn't though. Do they bolt right in?

@@VicsGarage71 not sure, but as far as I can tell the cordoba is just a narrowed b body

Makes sense. Definitely a 73/74 was used in my car.

The wheel is exactly the same as I had in my first car, a 74 Charger SE very few had the horn ring. I know it was original to the car as I bought it from my uncle and he owned it since 1975. The lower rag joint assembly is not original to the car for sure.
@moparnut62863 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely a 74 and up column.
@VicsGarage713 жыл бұрын
Definitely more than one piece that's from a later charger so Steering wheel itself might be from 74 and column from something else?
@terryschnereger85312 жыл бұрын
That is a dodge Charger steering wheel either a 73-74 same for the column.

The theme music really drowns out the vital technical information.
