Mine's a '65 too. I think they made a lot of 'em that year. Leo once mentioned in an interview that the Mustang was backordered by some months when he turned over the company to CBS.

As much as I've modified my '63 Strat one thing I've learned is if you don't want the pickguard to split loosen the screws and then gently retighten them. Then the plastic can relax.

Just for some clarification, the earlier Duo-Sonics and Musicmasters were 22.5" scale but were revamped with the introduction of the Mustang and all three were offered in either the 22.5" or the 24" scale. Sometimes the 22.5 were marked with the "II" designation but not always. My first Mustang had the 22.5 scale. I think the 22.5 scale was dropped in the mid 70's.

Before my Musicmaster was stolen, I ran 13s with a wound G. Also I drilled the bridge through for string through, and used the 6 holes that had been used to mount the strings to mount 6 strat saddles. I basically turned it into a string through Duosonic. Man, do I miss that guitar. If anyone happens to see a purple Musicmaster with a flame job (likely somewhere near Detroit), please let me know. It was stolen in 2006, and I can't imagine it would have been too easy to fence.

Just about everything, especially the short scale neck. My 78 Precision is far better.
@hickorymccay29944 жыл бұрын
@@michaelhiggs8657 Wow, I played one in a music store. It was the JMJ Roadworn model, and it was just great. Flatwound strings on it, split pickup, short scale. I love short scale basses with flatwound strings, so I may be biased, but it sounded like a better P bass. It's my taste, though. You're still allowed to say they're crappy.

Hey Guys, just an FYI, Mark isn't just a vintage guitar enthusiast and store manager at Norm's Rare Guitars. He's also a singer songwriter who has recorded an album that he has yet to have released. Mark needs to do a video of him performing one of his songs. That will show his followers a different side to him that people may or may not be aware of.

Hey Mark I have an idea for you. I am a huge Hagstrom fan myself, and I own a 1966 Hagstrom III. If you ever get a Hagstrom, can you please do a GOTD on it? By the '60's, Duosonics, Musicmasters, Broncos, and Mustangs were available in 24" scale. You could get Musicmasters and I think Duosonics in 22.5" scale in the late 60's and 70's, but they're pretty hard to find. My '72 Musicmaster was 24" scale.
