I got to see this car race at Ontario in 1971. It was a combined F1/ Formula 5000 race run in two heats. Andretti was the overall winner in the Ferrari. The most amazing engine sound was from the V12 Matra. It was amazing. Hard to admit as I am a huge Ferrari fan, but the Matra won the engine sound challenge that year!

Just a quick reminder to all of those saying they wish they were there in the 60’s to watch these beast race instead of the blenders we have nowadays... if you were there in the 60’s the tv coverage would be a complete nightmare for our contemporary attention spans, complete lack of data on screen, no KZbin videos of highlights, replays, calendar of 10 races, etc. You would basically catch a glimpse of F1 if it came to your home country and that’s it. I, for one, rather have what we have nowadays (which is pretty awesome btw) and still catch a glimpse of these beauties from other eras on KZbin.

I like how some people always make a steel balls joke on these kinds of videos(best part of the comment section is the creative ones lol)... in all seriousness the real reason they can drive these cars with little to no fear is because they have a very deep understanding of the vehicle and how it acts in multiple scenarios. The cherry on top is the fact that they love racing, most will never openly say they "love" it for the sake of being "manly" 😂 but they do. You can't get that far into racing without loving it and accepting what it can do to you. Anyone who has a loved one that races whether its a sim race(some are unable to race irl) or real race knows a racer's heart is a wild one and you won't stop them because you can't catch their ass. Have a good night/day everyone.

Those F1 engines were so quick in revving up and down, that conventional style tachs, that are free-flowing instead of incremental stepping up and down, would give the driver a distorted idea of the engine revs at speed during acceleration and shifting.

Twelve. Authentic, real Formula- One cars deserve twelve cylinder engines. Flat or Vee. Twelve, no one less.

The last great engines were the V10s in my opinion. That was a very unique sound coming out of F1 cars, no other motorsport in the world has run a field of v10 engines.

Having lived close to a motorcycle race track for a few months, you get used to it pretty quickly. It's similar to living next to a rail line or busy street; the sound is louder but less frequent

I wonder if those flats are sought after because of the proximity to the track, or the opposite, difficult to sell because of the noise.

It's the Imola Circuit, named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari. I guess houses were already there because, in the early years, It was a road circuit, not a permanent one. Anyway, that piece of Italy it's called "motor valley". Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Ducati, Pagani are all there. It's also the birthplace of many professional drivers and riders. Motorsport is what makes people proud down there. Nobody complains about noise. And, as far as I know, those balconies are for rent during the GP's weekends, and not cheap.

It certainly did not do all the revs. It sounded more like 8000 rpm and this can do at least 11 800 rpm. With a 12 cylinder it means screaming.

The No. 4 car we see here is actually a 312B, not a B2. The B2 had a squarer chassis than the B. According to Andretti, the B was a much better handling car than the B2, which suffered from insufficient chassis rigidity.
