All four cars used in the show were 70s' with 71 parts. (1971 front clip with the Shaker hood scoop and a rubber front bumper) The number 1, this 'Cuda was one of approximately 85 four-speed 340 convertibles built in 1970. Before the show bought it a four speed auto had been installed. The shows mechanics converted it to a 360 and reinstalled the 4 speed. The Hemi engine was put in around 2006.

A beautiful Cuda with Hemi and shaker hood. My brother had a 340 Cuda Hardtop with Dual point ignition and headers but in no way matches up with the Nash Bridges Cuda. Still it was a heck of a car to drive but by today's standards was just another slow car. But you have to love those old Mopars,. Especially the Cuda.!!

The show used 3 or 4 cars. They were ALL 1970 cars with '71 features. This was Don's favorite car that was driven often. During the show's run, he had the car fitted with a 360 V8 and 4-speed with a shattershield. This (Nash #1) car eventually received a full-on rotisserie restoration and a crate Hemi engine. Also, a brighter color was chosen for all the cars during filming. It was found the correct yellow made the car look green to the camera. Don sold another car at auction. Any questions?

While the cars used for the show were 1970's that were modified to be '71's, there is one actual '71 Hemi Cuda convertible that was the inspiration for this car. According to a book I have, Don Johnson saw this Cuda and wanted it to be the character's ride.

@keithlacey2007 2 жыл бұрын
@@phantomwalker8251 From what I've read, they made somewhere between 7 and 11 of the Convertible Cuda's in 1971. The reason they didn't use a real 71 convertible 426 was the price, even when the show was on, was too prohibitive. Easier and cheaper to find Barracuda Convertibles and modify them. This one here started life with a 440 six-pack Cuda and was later restored with a crate 426 Hemi.

This is best show i ever seen,but it was never a Hemi Cuda 71'. Actually, all of 3 cars used in show ware Cuda 70' and none had Hemi parts inside. Those are regular Baraccuda's from 1970.Not 71' and no Hemi motors inside. They just made em look like Hemi Cuda 71' for the show. Especially the "hero car".

Curious; I saw an original '71 Hemi Cuda convertible on Muscle Car of the Week, and the grille was Argent Silver, and the rear bumper was body color, both of which are different from this car. Were those options in '71, or is this car just wrong? Also, what's that thing sticking off the right side of the transmission tunnel? Something from the TV show? I really do not understand why car companies do not make new versions of their much-loved classics such as this one. Not just a new car with an old name, but real and faithful reproductions that are as close as possible while still being legal with all the EPA mandated crap that today's cars are saddled with. I think that they would sell like crazy.

Normally I'd say, "NO!".......to that white convertible top. Black seems like the only color you can actually keeping looking good for more than a few weeks after the original installation. After 1 year a white or tan colored top usually looks like it needs to be replaced as an eyesore on an otherwise near perfect car. How-ever this is the ONE EXCEPTION. You just can't imagine that paint and the pristine White interior with anything other than the White Top. It'll be most the most frustrating part of ownership......but for the guy who owns this car......it's probably worth the BIG EFFORT.
