This was my Dad's car. Scottie misread the sign. My dad special ordered it new, so he was the only owner until it was bought by Floyd Garrett. It is 100% percent original and untouched. Only the oil has been changed. You would have to know my dad to know how well he takes care of his cars. Always in a climate controlled garage and covered up. It has never been in the rain and I can't remember him ever washing it because he never let it get dirty. .

My Dad had a bunch of '60's & 70's Chrysler products and he claimed that they had the most durable drive-trains to come out of Detroit, but the cars themselves seemed to be an afterthought. He liked the 440 engine and had a 440 sedan and wagon. He was just brutal on those cars, constantly making fun of them. I have never owned a Chrysler product from years of listening to my dad insult them. They make fine cars now!

yeah yeah ive been listening to tools like you for ever. ive got a shop full of original paint cars. solid color non metalic paints hold up awesome. Metallic paints dont hold up well even in controlled environments. ive seen countless original paint cars ruined by people just like you.

GTX is its own MODEL. 1972 is the only year they did that ridiculous combination GTX/RR.

Wow, this car is cool.. I have one the same color-gy3.. Mine appears to have a few different options.. Like Scotty said when he said it was the most heavily optioned 71x.. I see no power windows..No auto-- , mine has the louvres-- very rare only 30 x's built with them. Can't see under the hood to see if it has air or not. Can't wait to finish the resto on mine..

I'm definitely a huge Mopar maniac and I love these old big block Mopars! It looks like Daisy's Roadrunner! Please see if Floyd Garrett has any classic A-Body Mopars like a 1971-72 Dodge Demon 340, a 1968-69 Dodge Dart GTS with a 383 or a A-990 Super Stock Hemi-Dart! If he has any other Dart, Duster, or Demon A-Bodies please show them, you just can't go wrong with a lightweight A-Body Mopar with a powerful big block engine in them or a high revving 340! If you need Mo'Power...you need a Mopar!!!
@jeremythompson91224 жыл бұрын
The 340 Mopar A-Bodies(Duster, Dart/Demon) were maybe the best performance bargains of that era. They were definitely more than capable of embarrassing many of the high dollar big block cars in those days. The 340 was a screamer. I'd like to own a 69 Dart Swinger 340-4 speed. I had a 73 Duster 340-4 speed a while ago and that little car was pretty fast even for a low compression smog era 340. First thing I did was throw away the smog pump and install headers and Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers. But other than that and advancing the timing a bit I left it bone stock. I wish I still had it. The 340 A-Bodies and the base model 383/ 4 speed Roadrunner/Super Bee were the most bang for your buck that you could get during that era probably from any manufacturer. The 428 CJ/SCJ powered 69 Ford Fairlane Cobra and Mercury Cyclone CJ also provided a lot of muscle for the money. The Pontiac GTO Judge was originally supposed to be a budget minded muscle car like the others I mentioned but actually ended up being more expensive than a regular GTO in the end

My Pops passed away 3 years ago and is the original owner of a curious yellow 71 440 super commando GTX that he bought off the showroom floor on Gratiot ave in Roseville Michigan in 1971 coming home from work he said. My mom owns her now and will be handed down to my brother and I if I live long enough God willing. I have alot of memories in that car. We towed the camper to Florida Disney World and Colorado Rockies a few times and I remember my dad hitting resume on the cruise at the light and it would go full throttle and pass people with the camper on the back. He put an after market cruise on for vacation. I think she has like 64k on her now, thtas still low miles for a 71. Pops got to restore her before he passed and she looks better then new. Only thing I dont like is they couldnt find the black 440 for the hood and settled for the white. She came with the black 440 letters.

The sigh was wrong about the 71 being the last year of production for the GTX. I had a 72 model of which only 255 were produced and a friend of mine had a 1974 mod. GTX...a real dog for as far as power goes.
@alanwanger28559 жыл бұрын
Rick Taylor From 72 to 74 the GTX was just an option package on the Roadrunner. Low compression dogs but the bodies were still cool.
@ricktaylor37489 жыл бұрын
Alan Wanger I couldn't agree more. The 72 mod. I had was rated @ 285 hp, but I believe it had a little more than that. I wore a set of Sears Road Handler radials out in four burnouts and it would do 0 to 100 mph in 12 seconds flat w/ 3.55 gears. I've always loved those bullet shaped body's, I'm sure they were very aerodynamic...Also a gas guzzler from Hell...11 mpg hwy. 8 city.

Beautiful car but far from the highest optioned 71 GTX built . My 71 same color had the options as the one shown but mine got elastomeric bumpers with the nascar spoiler on top of the bumper . , hood pins , rimblow steering wheel , power windows . I don't see these options on this car .
