1971 Saloon car championship "PART 1"

This is the "Osram saloon car championship" part of the "Iberia Trophy - 1971". The race took place on 11-09-1971, at the now gone circuit of "Crystal Palace". Cars include Camero, Viva HB GT, Escort RS1600, Mini Cooper's etc.. Big names such as the late "Gerry Marshall".. Enjoy the time warp with "Murray Walker" on commentary

I too was someone who recorded this amazing race many years ago and sadly lost it in the mist of time - thank you for uploading it - I raced many times at Brands in the 70's and had the pleasure of seeing the Big Man throw 'Old Nail/Big/Baby Bertha to one of 600 + wins - if there was ever a man who deserved a knighthood for sheer charisma/and entertaintment.. Yes - this was when special saloon racing was fantastic to watch. Crazy machines and crazy drivers, who never failed to entertain. Is there any more special or super saloon footage out there?

1 Camaro, 1 Mustang. Thankf goodness grew up in Oz with stormin Norman Monara Big Pete and Moffs Mustangs, Jane and Thommo's Camaros and so forth. V8 power rules!

There was some similar fun at Brands this weekend, but not quite so close for so long. Coys historics and the Goodwood revival give us a flavour, but have to say it must have been nice first time round "for real". Yes I am just a little bit jealous....

Yes... have some with Andy Rouse and the late Keith Odor in the RS500's and Smith - Ratner with M3 etc. Not sure how they survived yet,do house up at the mo but will get there..

Hey all you dudes: Motor Racing is Back at Crystal Palace this May Bank Holiday 2010. Check the web for details. I doubt spectators could sit on the grass verge - like they did in the 60's. As a young lad, I would take the bus to Crystal Palace, climb over the fence at Thicket Road and sit on the railway sleepers on the race track - with my legs hanging over the circuit - as the likes of Graham Hill went roaring by. Tickets are just £10..
