Installing an aftermarket fuel tank can be a breeze, depending on the the fuel tank. This install wasn't too bad, but we did have a hang up or 2!

Our family had VW`s all over the place. A Carmen Ghia, a microbus, 2 hatchbacks, and 1 or 2 Super beetles. Only 1 or 2 of them ran at any one time, but they were great. Probably averaged 25-30 MPG. We lived near a bone yard so parts were plentiful. Didn`t even have to buy new windshield wipers. Just went down to G.I. Auto and find a car with wipers and take off both of the complete arms. $5 total. What a good time.

Aftermarket parts are a real pain in the butt. But I do remember back in the later 70s, when you bought something it actually fit, and it worked. When we buy parts today, we’re actually surprised when they do work. It shouldn’t be that way though, great video. Very well done

That was interesting that you had to cut off the filler neck. Nice work on the install.

I've got a Karmann Ghia. The filler pipe has a rubber band under the flex hose to seal against the tank and filler neck. Any advice on getting the rubber bands to stay in place? TIA.

Did you replace the fuel filter on the bottom of the tank or did you just leave it out
