That Scoring on the inside of the brake drum is some serious shit ( aside from everything else) had a stroked 62 Xlch, Rigid frame Chopper,... the end cap of one of the rear brake shoes broke off and never made a sound, silently scoring a line like a lathe inside the drum. I was blasting down the Southern State at night and went to pass some body and the rear drum and brake plate exploded. luckily the chain didn't lock up the rear wheel. the sprocket Brake plate and drum totally disintegrated. I saved the wheel it has an 8 inch iron disc. It was a loooong push! LOL.

Gotta love the working out of a bucket technician. 15 minutes of work plus 20 minutes of searching for shit while listening to the cussing cause cant find what they're looking for. They get impatient and instead of finding that 3/4 socket they settle for that 19mm and round the bolt head. Good times my friends, good times.

you would be surprised how loose you can run parts in your motor and never know it. as long as they are straight and installed correctly these could work just fine. just look at how loose my race bike motor is put together. now if things are out of round or coming apart you will deffently not be happy on how things feel or last. you never know untill you take things aparts and see what you are working with. tatro

don't use new gas unless you want a bomb. i would just take it apart and clean it all out. the case has big areas that you can not clean out when it is assembled. most likely the crank is bad anyway. tatro

You mentioned sometimes grinding the rocker arm pads (tips). Wouldn't the new surfaces wear very fast after that or do you reharden the pads?
@jkulavis6 жыл бұрын
Now that I think about it, I do recall him mentioning it in other videos, but I can't remember how he addressed the hardening issue. Though gotta say I got confused thinking I had replied to myself there for a minute, hello fellow J.
@TatroMachine6 жыл бұрын
the rockerarm tips are not that hard and about the same all the way thru. if you grind too much the rocker geometry goes all the hell. tatro
@jkulavis6 жыл бұрын
Interesting - I thought rocker arms only had a very thin surface hardening and thus grinding would wear through that. Thanks for the clarification, Senor Tatro.

Why do you guys do a compression check if you could and it look like a gas valve plug in oil foul plug to me when I'm not there
@mistersniffer68382 жыл бұрын
Looks like valve and valve stem sealing problems with all that oil. You would not have oil dripping off the valves like it did if it was rings..
@TatroMachine2 жыл бұрын
my race bikes have no valve seals and no oil dripping off the valves. harley did not have seals until 1982 and the motors still ran just fine. when the rings go out, the oil goes out the intake and exhaust valves until it runs out of oil. the harder you go the more oil they push out of the motor. you can change valve seals all day long but until you do the rings you are going to be wet. tatro
@mistersniffer68382 жыл бұрын
@@TatroMachine - Maybe you had the engine upside down for a while??? When you pulled that head off, LOADS of oil came dripping off the edge of the valve to the middle of the valve. No way thats from the rings! Im sure the rings are bad and leak, but it doesnt make sense gravitationaly (made that word up), if the motor has been upright for any amount of time. Gonna have to look at that part of the video again.
