Just found this ad and I too received a 72 Impala Custom Coupe in Sequoia Green as a gift, an inheritance from an uncle but it was my grandparents car they bought new. He had kept it inside but it needed much attention to get back going as it had sat 14 years. I have many fond memories of riding in that car. It still performs very well with its original 400 small block. I love driving it and it gets plenty of attention now as you don’t see them often. Back in the 90’s when my grandparents were still using it nobody would have given it a second glance. Funny how time changes things!

I had a '72 in 1983 as well. Impala Sport Coupe with the 400, which I bought from the original owner for $400. He said he'd charge me a dollar for every cubic inch and he'd throw the rest of the car in for free. It was the first car I ever hit 120 mph. It was also the first car I received a speeding ticket in.

Problem was, a 1972 Impala couldn't do better than around 15 mpg on the highway with the 350 cubic inch 2 barrel motor, even worse with one of the thirstier engines. But it was a wonderful car to drive, I'd still love to have one if I had a place to keep it!

MY Driver's Ed car was a '72 Impala, too! It was a dark blue "sport sedan" (4-door hardtop) with a painted white roof and fender skirts. AND a big-ass metal sign attached to the rear bumper advertising the Chevy dealership that donated the car. That sign made a HECK of a noise when I backed the car into a fence and almost put it into the river.....ahhh, good times!

Man do I remember those commercials. What a fall from grace over the next few decades. The Bolt is promising and I wish they'd bring back the Volt to give options for the real world yet still its a car that has a huge improvement in economy over the traditional ice version. Apparently that's not in their direction which makes me wonder who's possibly just a figure head and who is actually running the company. GM. Government Motors?

Really didn't like the bloat/cheapness/rattles/shimmies that came with the 1971 GM full size cars. GM built better quality cars in the 1960's IMO. However I will say before those big bumper 1974+ year cars, the GM whales were pretty stylish. Really love the front clip on this Impala along with that radically curved rear window, it was a whale of a car but still looked pretty fresh.
