Why do you say that? Being from Philly, in 1975 this audience knew drum corps back into the forties and they did not like Phantoms placement because there is a lot of Regiment fans in Philadelphia area! The military style resonated with them. I'd even venture to say most of that audience knew drum corps before age 10

Pretty incredible the Blue Devils were able to make their way up the ranks so quickly. This was only their third year in DCI competition.

Probably to those unfamiliar with the group, back then, Blue Devils were a very successful drum and bell corps in Northern California, founded in 1957 so they already had 15 years of track record and many state championships. The winter colorguard was also quite accomplished. So really all they had to do was add a brass line and get it up to speed, and they would be on the fast track to success in the drum Corps arena. 1975 was really the year they turned heads, including mine, and I joined the corps in 1976. Marched five years there. Fantastic organization.

The Cavaliers were the ones that turn the Muchachos in for having a member over age when in fact the Cavaliers head members over-aged as well most unicorns unfortunately at that time all did the same thing changing the ages of the members so they wouldn't be disqualified, was not legal but they all did it that's a fact

I firmly believe that the Muchachos would have beat the Blue Devils and that Santa Clara's show was not 1.5 pts behind Madison...in fact on balance I would have scored SCV over Madison...the show they put on at finals was magic. Yes I agree the Muchachos got screwed and if you check one you should check all or just remove the overaged player and let the other 112 members compete...but then again Johnny Mac never played straight with DCI so they paid the price for his behavior it was all politics and payback....I believe they would have scored 90.75 and the corps would have lived on...!!!

Tom Landry Madison lost DCI Midwest Prelims to SCV. They’ve never gone undefeated. Only the Cadets (2000), Cavaliers (2002) and Blue Devils (1982, 1994, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2017) have had undefeated seasons.

Every single Corps that year in the "official Top Twelve" had at least two members who were "overage" by the new rules instituted by DCI. It was bad blood and jealousy which caused the travesty which was the disqualification of the Muchachos, who were the absolute best.

Cavies are scum. Slime couldn’t make our drum line, so he goes out to Cavies and reports a drummer of Chachos was overage. That’s how it started. DCI waited till finals to confront us. Total set up. They hated our director
