Very correct car. However, a few things need to be pointed out. According to the fender tag this vehicle was built stripe delete. V88 denotes rear transverse stripe delete. V68 denotes side stripe delete. Those 340 call outs are 73 only. I believe the plug wires are NOS date code correct not assembly line. This particular car was born with black sidewall E-70 14's code T77 and would be found at bottom of build sheet. Also of note is the heater blower motor which was painted black on a smooth motor casing which led to the paint falling off very shortly after vehicle delivery due to very poor adhesion. Traces of this black paint can be found in crevices at end of motor. Nice to see the painted coolant bypass hose still intact, the blue anodized ECU signifying built in rev limiter for manual cars. Automatics got the gold anodized unit. One can only wonder if the idle stop solenoid continues to function since they were notorious for the plunger sticking after just a few months. This device was installed to combat engine run on or "dieseling" after engine was shutoff by allowing the primary butterflies to close completely. The "25" decal on power brake booster is often mistaken as the last 2 digits of the booster. It is actually the last 2 digits of the master cylinder. One other area to note is the "welded" washer center face of K frame which can be found on every 72 Duster340 which told workers it was to be a "340" K-frame due to the standard sway bar brackets. Thanks for posting Dave!

Excellent- I noticed this doesn’t have the cowl to fender braces like I asked you about. Interesting!

I don't think those came into being until 1973. My '72 didn't have them.

I had a 72 Ruster 340. The drivetrain was top notch, the car completely rusted away to nothing. I'll say this, 240hp my ass. truly closer to 275-280. The 72s could still scoot, and the front grill is cool.

I own a 1969 Charger R/T SE / X9 Black /V1X / V88 in very similar unrestored fine original condition on a B23 '68 build date, and I have enjoyed the learning curve I've gained following along with your video authentications. Suffice to say.... thus far all I've been able to find not original on mine is the Alternator dates from later in 1969 ? so probably changed early on, albeit, still with the original 'circle' rear brg in place. Curious as to the usage of the term 'benchmark' example added to survivor ? and wondering at what percentage of originality that applies, but guessing 100% ?

I was looking at a friends today not same it looks identical but was a 71 and I wasn’t all original coded like this but his was far nicer in my opinion and 30 thou not 77 that crazy money for this car but I guess if I’m paying 77 it’s not going to be a duster I got a 71 dart I’m putting a 440 in and it isn’t obviously original but I’ll have a nice car for prob 15 if not less wen I’m done and I guess if your looking for all the hoses and this and that to be right I think this car would be more like 40 in my mind but different strokes for different folks it’s nice but not to me bench seat column shift I don’t know I don’t see 77000 ther I’ve could prob buy a hemi car for that price

I love Mopar A Bodies, but $83k ? The new owner will not get anything close to what he paid for it when he wants to sell. The fact that this 340 Duster has been garage stored and unabused for 50+ years is the main reason for it's high price.
@gregorylyon10047 ай бұрын
Not worth $75K dollars. That car is a torsion bar front end car. This car didn't cost $5K dollars brand new. What a rip off.

Cool car but a 21K mile Chrysler product is basically a 3 year-old hamster. They used the bare minimum amount of metal and plastic to hold them together. You better be careful opening both doors of a convertible at the same time.
