Wow!!! What a beauty! I bought new, it's little brother, a Maverick Sprint and still have it . The Sprints really turn heads no matter where you go. Back in 2010 I was at the NPD show in Ocala, FL and we had all 3 Sprints represented. Probably the first and last time you will see all three together since they were new on the dealer lot.

Hi Dennis, Happy to read you have the Maverick version, and you're right, maybe the only time all 3 Sprint cars in the same place. If your car is still stock, would be great to have your car on the Channel. Feel free to e-mail me at trupowr@yahoo.com Please put in the subject line 1972 Maverick Sprint. Based on my travels, I hope we see each other. Thanks, Lou

Another appreciated presentation Lou. The Mustang 'Sprint' is a credit to Bob with his decade+ restoration and his attention to detail. Thinking there is a four barrel carburettor under the air cleaner unit with this 2V engine. Good to see an original working York air-conditioner compressor. . Many items seen on this limited edition Mustang found on Aussie made Fords. Ford production in Australia ceased in 2017. For high performance we now have imported RHD Mustangs. Priced from around AU$60,000.00. .

Thanks, Lou. I was a young teen that year, and so of course for some years after I'd see the very infrequent one here and there on the streets of Chicago. I always had the impression they were bare-bones models with themed graphics to make them more appealing. After all, that era of Mustang was only one year away from the graveyard and things started getting pretty dim in general for cars. However, I now see that wasn't the case thanks to your video. Pretty darn cool, especially that eye-popping interior. Kudos to the owner for his dedication.

Absolutely beautiful car! Fantastic job! I had one of these as my first car back in 1978. Mine was a fastback with a 351-C 4-V & a toploader 4-speed on G60-15 studded snow tires the entire year or so I owned it! It had been repainted black and, living in southern Maine at the time, had already started to rust under the floorboards. Being 18 and new to Mustangs I knew nothing about it being a special edition and all. I just knew I loved it! Looking back now I think I had more fun with that car than any I've had since. Some trivia for you. Did you know they had a version sold in Canada that had a Canadian flag in the shield on the quarter panel? Whether the spedo was calibrated in KPH rather than MPH I don't know. I suppose it could have been optional. Other than that they were just the same as the US versions.

Beautiful car! I'm thinking it would have been great if Ford continued to offer this generation Mustang along side the Mustang II through 1978, and then the Fox replacing them both for 79. I believe Ford could have done it. The ponycar started coming back in the mid 70s.

Will somebody please show me ANY hard evidence of the claim that the 1972 Sprint Mustangs were built to commemorate the 72 Olympics?

@@loucostabile I have an original Ford News release sent to all the dealers dated February 24, 1972 announcing the release of the Sprint models commemorating the Olympics. It describes the Sprint packages. Besides the letter there is a black & white photograph of all three along with a model wearing gogo boots!!!

After all the American effort to make a 1972 Olympic "Sprint Edition" it turns out the Soviet won the darn race.

original philco am radio, and of course, a functional clock. you can eat off of the restored engine. wow. never knew about ford "sprint" edition cars of the day. the color scheme: maybe not everyone's cup of tea.. the vertical U.S.A. badge at the tail end, kind of overused by EVERY commercial enterprise through 1976: toaster ovens to CB radios, but outstanding, all the same: genuine history. it makes some of those mustangs parked around him seem boring, so unique it is.

Same here. Around this time Roy Rogers bowled at the Victorville bowling alley, and used a red, white, and blue AMF American bowling ball. Always thought stuff like that was cool.
