I knew someone who had a 72 Grand Torino Sport back in 1979. It had the 351 Windsor motor. It was gloss black with a black vinyl top, black interior, bucket seats, Ford Rally wheels, tinted glass, and upholstered floor matts. One of the nicest cars I have ever seen.

In 1973 I was 14 years old. An older fella I knew bought a Torino brand need.. They were fine for tiny little towns but the gas mileage would have been impossible in a large city.

Id run the VIN on that, a 4V car (aka 351 Cobra Jet) will have a Q in the first few digits...5th I think. Would have to go look at mine. Heads dont look wide enough and I dont believe the 351C-4V sticker was on Torino air cleaners...mine reads CJ. I have a 72 and a 73. Rear quarters and lower doors are rusted on every one I have seen and I bought mine from Oregon and Arizona then had them shipped to Texas. If its a Q code thats rare. Buckets are rare but those seem mismatched. Doesn't have the sport instrument cluster but thats possible though unlikely in a sport. Door cards arent original, they have been recovered. Factory 4 speed should have had, I believe, a center console so look for holes where it was mounted. Sport roof is rarer (thats what they call the fastback). I paid 3 grand for my 351c-2v car and 4 grand for my 351c-4V. They aren't worth more because people love them or hate the front end. Still a one off year car so someday will be worth something just not yet. I got pretty excited when you said factory ram air because thats about 5 grand in parts...its not there. The plastic filler around the grille opening is like gold though, they break easily. The aluminum grille trim is another expensive piece,

I had a 72 Torino it wasn't a Grand Torino but it did have a 351 Cleveland. I bought it in 74 it had 21,000 Miles I gave $1800 for it I was 19 at the time. My wife and I went on our Honeymoon in it. It would burn rubber until you let off the gas. Wish I had it still today. Traded it for a brand new Torino with a 351 Windsor engine wasn't half the car.

By 1972 the four speeds were quite rare. Replace the bucket seats with a decent bench seat. The rotted rear quarter would be a challenge to repair for the novice.
