When you consider this is now a 50 year old motorcycle to be used as a daily rider . . . .amazing.

The component on the oil filter cover is the non return valve.. I learnt the hard way when I forgot to re-install it after I rebuilt mine, getting down the road I heard this high pitch sound sound coming from the tacho cable.. was the sound of the top end starving to death from oil.. then she locked up! DOH!

My first bike was this exact model and color - absolutely loved it for getting around on short hops.

a lot of what you show also applies to the cd175 as same engine as cb cl 175 only difference is cd has 6 volt electrics and single carb and is 4 speed not 5 , i have had engine restored on my cd , but had 5 speed box fitted and converted to 12v electrics .

Hi, nice informative video. I have a '73 in this same color. The clutch is hard to pull, I think it's an old cable.

Thanks. Change that cable before it leaves you stranded. Cheers.

I have this one and I want to do the same exhausts one on each side…besides the exhausts what else I need….🎉
@MotoRestoFL9 күн бұрын
Not sure, this one was that way when I worked on it. I'd imagine replacement exhaust gaskets and maybe some bracketry? If you can find a model in the Honda parts fiche with two exhausts you can drill down in the fiche and find the OEM part numbers, but I've never done that.

I had one the same colour. A 1974 model.

Nearly died on my cb175. On ‘L’ plates with no particular road sense, I drove mine into a tractor at 45-50mph. Amazingly, all I suffered was concussion, a broken right wrist, a cut knee and a cut under my chin from the helmet strap.

Enjoyed your video of the CB175. I’m currently doing a CB175 identical to the one you repaired although mine is not nearly as nice. I’m very curious if you found any information on the cable routing and wire harness near the front of the gas tank? Thank you.
@MotoRestoFL2 жыл бұрын
I don’t recall. If so, it would be the service manual.

Oh and thanks for watching and commenting.

Harness routing runs from underneath the frame along the side to a clip/tie attached opposite ignition coil mount that the throttle cable also rests on. It runs from there to underneath the gas tank mount and up to the headlight bucket with slight slack as to not impede handlebar turning. Look at CMSNL website for your model under the wiring harness parts diagram and it’ll give you a better understanding of the routing a long with replacing the mounting clip/tie if yours has been misplaced.

Did I miss you cleaning out the centrifugal oil filter? Worth doing every second oil change (every 1000 mile for changes).

I have a 1973 175 CLl that I'm debating on restoring. Unfortunately it is seized up at the moment. I would be okay putting a couple grand into it but not sure that will cover it. Any thoughts?
@MotoRestoFL Жыл бұрын
Yes. Estimate a budget and double it. Doubtful you’ll turn a profit unless it’s in pristine condition and all there is to do is mechanical.
@dougfriedrichsen8004 Жыл бұрын
@@MotoRestoFL Haha...been there felt that. Not looking to flip. I've owned it since new. Just emotional now. I probably just need to get it out of the garage so I quit thinking about it.

May I ask where you order your parts from? Thanks in advance.
@MotoRestoFL Жыл бұрын
Depends. Partzilla.com for OEM stuff, Z1Enterprises for a lot of aftermarket, Randakk's for a lot of Honda Specific stuff, Niche Cycle Supply for Mikuni and Keihin jets, eBay sometimes. If you have something specific I could be more exact.
