Looking great! Since you are stripping down the frame and taking off the forks, here’s a suggestion for mounting the motor by yourself: lay the motor on its side, and lay the frame over it. Move the frame around to get the mounting bolts in and tightened. You can now move it around easier with the frame as leverage. It works a lot easier if you have a motorcycle jack to lift the frame/motor to get the front and rear suspension and wheels on. Or use your hoist?

Looking Good Howard! I’m thinking a 16” wheel would add a really sweet touch to that bike if you can find one reasonably
@earnieeggers69665 күн бұрын
It was very common on those bikes to put a 16 inch Harley rear wheel on them.
@OldCarAlley5 күн бұрын
I'm kinda finding that.... looking at vintage bikes like this one. I'v been trying to find a decent used rear wheel, as that's the worst chrome on this bike. On one of the bikes I looked at, the front fender was painted gas tank color, but the brackets were still chrome. It looked good.... Maybe paint the front fender white, like the headlight bucket, IF I can't find a good used one.
@earnieeggers69665 күн бұрын
@ I think that would look ok and very simple to change later if you locate a better fender.

@@earnieeggers6966 Yep.... exactly.

A band instrument repair man can roll those dents out of that front fender as long as the chrome is not broken away from the steel.
@OldCarAlley5 күн бұрын
Thats the issue.... I can bump it out, but the chrome is messed up.

The Galaxie did go to a good home. I miss a lot of past projects, but it's extremely expensive to insure, store and maintain a fleet of classic cars. By buying them, fixing them up and using them for a season or two, before selling them, gives me enjoyment of having many different cars, plus I enjoy fixing them up almost more than driving them. I like working on old machinery.

Hi Howard, watching you spray painting and seeing all the spray in the air makes me wonder if your spraygun is an HVLP model. Supposedly they put more paint on the product and not so much in the air. When I bought the sprayguns for Boeing in st louis back before 2009 All I bought was HVLP guns. Some DeVilbis and some Binks. I think they are both owned by the same company now. I retired from there in July 2009

@@margegsell958 I used my trusty old Badger 400 doorjamb gun, as I really like painting smaller odd shaped things with it as its easy to hold and the finger tip spray control is nice. I do have a HVLP doorjamb gun, but it's a little harder to use on odd shaped parts. When videoing painting outside, the camera always makes it look like massive overspray going everywhere, no matter what gun I use. It's not as bad as it looks....
