My dad brought home a brand new 1972 Lincoln Continental Town Car on my fifth birthday! It was resplendent in burgundy, with a beige interior, a black vinyl roof, & turbine hubcaps. 😎 Thanks for a wonderful trip down memory lane! 👍😊

Awesome, I am a member of the Lincoln tribe, with my 76 Jade Mist, Town Car. I am the 3rd owner, all original with only 17,000 miles. I love the mid 70's Lincolns with the over the top, pillow style, velour seats, opera lights, oval opera windows, and the padded 1/2 vinyl coach roofs. Maybe one day, I will learn how to do a video of my land yacht, and post to You Tube. They are becoming more and more rare to see.

Right on! The 70s did have that over the top comfort that makes up for the emissions stuff, although a lot of that can be gutted (in some state..CA sucks lol). Are you on the forum at all? Thats still the best place for them. TheLincolnForum dot net. Been there for over ten years, great place to find out things. I even found out things about my car and Im a so called expert LOL

@@jezof9048 Ill never sell her, and I do my best to keep her stock and original. I just need a bigger garage lol. Im not afraid to put miles on her since I rolled over the odometer...but theres a Ranchero stuck in the way in front of the garage door

Im very partial to 72 because I grew up in one, and after my father junked it, I really wanted to get one. BUt the funny thing is that details were fading from my mind, until I got the car, and was asking myself...was it always like that? lol. So, rediscovering little bits made me fall for her.

@@RipRoaringGarage we were lucky to grow up in real cars. we had a riv, eldo, Caprice, monte

@@blakedawson2129 Exactly. And we grew up with the concept of big cars that were cheap, Caprices, Crown Vic. And no matter how they try to sell me on some of these techy cars, nothing compares.

19 mpg????!! That's awesome! I love this car. I just feel that I'm in for a gun battle with Barnaby Jones, but I'll take my chances. 😅

Yeah. They werent as bad as many believe. A lot of it is from not being maintained after the gas crisis, and then, an expectancy of 5mpg being acceptable. I had a LOT of customers back when I was working on these engines, and they were all shocked at the improvement, without losing power, and most was from properly setting up the carb. The best story was this guy that drove from Arizona to me, averaging 8, and on the way back, he got 21. Granted, long drives will get higher mileage. My best was 22 but in a test (where I filled up after only about 50 miles if I remember, but best real world, empty to full tank, was 19, including some local driving through hills and all. Its where it pays off being OCD with records lol

So avg mpg is like what? 15 to 19mpg?
@RipRoaringGarageАй бұрын
When driven normally. Since there is a lot of idling to charge up batteries, warming it up, Id say around 9-12, since in the winter I would do that kind of thing. But, if I take just summer months, when the car was driven to car shows, and not running at idle to melt off ice and what n ot, yes.
