Thanks for the well made video. Tom Mann started Humminbird as well. Most of the staff Tom had on board left when Tom sold Mann's in 1984, Suzanne Newsom stayed on board until mid 2010's. Mann's still has most of the molds for these old lures and still makes a few of them on occasion. It was great working there for the time I did and seeing the nostalgia from the old Mann's brand. Sadly, Mann's is a shell of its former self and no longer a serious contender in the industry. At one point they were one of the top 3 US lure brands.

Great video. I’m a Mann’s collector of sorts, mostly the late 70’s to early 90’s Razorbacks in all of their varieties and soft plastics and frog/grub spins but if something catches my eye I’ll often grab it. You’ve got some really nice examples of the early soft plastics there. Those cards that the Jelly worms and Jelly Wagglers are on are in great shape. These old catalogs are great references. Thanks for sharing this one. I’m sure you know but the Razorback name was used for the Hog, Pig and Piglet sizes throughout the years. I’ve never seen any of the original design other than in literature. Also, the Pogo Minnow was sold by Tom at his Fish World store in Eufaula. It was not sold by Mann’s Bait Company. Anyway, great video and glad Terry straightened out the packaging mix up.

I actually met Tom Mann at his bait co. in Eufaula Al. when I was in the Boy Scouts we were camping for the week in Georiga across the river from Eufaula at a state park on lake Eufaula. We went there to visit their large aquarium in the facility they used it to test lures in it . They had little doors in the middle of it that they could pull them through it was very interesting . when I got home to Florida I Bought a little George lure the black bass tore that thing up. Thank for your video.

Really cool vid. Awesome to see the catalog and the actual baits side by side. I’m going to call my district 7 rep to see if I can get some jelly worm baits.

Haha! I actually thought about who would answer if I called that number.

Ned rigs and spade tailed grubs are two different techniques and it is a mistake to assume say they are basically the same . The stingray grub excels in both current and cold water situations and had an erratic fall fished on light line with a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jighead on semi-slack line . If you let it fall on a slack line it seemed to have a habit of twisting your line . another way to fish them was with a light head 1/16-1/8 oz jighead on shallow flat banks with a swimming , twitching retrieve causing the bait to dart side to side . I remember Tom Mann writing about using sting ray grubs to catch suspended bass by counting them down to the depth the fish were holding at and ripping the bait on a long rod thru them exciting the bass into striking .

I just discovered your channel off of Instagram. I'm checking it out and I like your set up on here. I'm originally from Topeka and you mentioned you live in the KC area. Where abouts? I love the retro and old school equipment. I actually have a zip lock loaded with the blue jellyworm grubs I reallyneed to use this year. BTW, I noticed your an Elvis fan in this video. Taking Care of Business. Peace brother.

Thanks man! I’m a fan of anything/everything vintage. Im in OP, but fish all over eastern Kansas and some of western MO. You definitely need to bust out those old Jelly worms, that would make for a great video. I just subscribed to your channel, really cool and the intro is awesome! Keep on TCB! 🤘🏼

I come from the mid era of fishing I guess it's called. From the late 1980's. I have a few things from back then I'll be using such as the 7 or 8 inch jelly worms. It's hard to find some things from that time. I can't even find pictures in a Google search on some of them. Thanx for subscribing and the comment of my intro. I'm making a better intro for future videos. OP is a nice area. I have known a few pros that lives in the KC area.

@@anglingoutings It’s such a blast to tie on those old school lures/worms. Bass don’t care if they’re 30-40yrs old. I look forward to watching your future vids! Take care 😃👍🏼

Looking for a name for manns works with curly tail with dimples? Any idea what that is. Thanks:

Could it be the Mann’s Augertail?

Mike, you have packages mixed up. The 10+ package is the package for the Crank that is in the Mann-O-lure package and visa-versa. Evidently whoever you bought them from on eBay screwed up and glued the wrong baits in the wrong packages.......
@anglingarchaeology3 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry, that would make total sense since the Mann-O-Lure is a spoon in the catalog. I bought a large lot of older Mann's lures about a year ago, and many of the packages had cracked plastic, and I'm sure you're right... they just stuffed whatever back in. I've fixed it and am now good to go. I Appreciate your help! Thanks for watching buddy!

I think Don Mann shot himself (suicide)inside the Mann’s building.Tom brought this up in his Think Like a Fish book.He didn’t go into much detail about how Fish World went bankrupt and I have always wondered what exactly happened.

Do you know anything else about this? I had no idea
@davidparker9022 Жыл бұрын
@@MilesChamberlain You got to get a copy of Tom Mann’s book Think Like.a Fish. I have read it about 3 times.It’s not about fishing but actually how he was raised in poverty and grew a fishing tackle empire.Trust me its not a boring book.Tom tells in the book what happened to Don and their is brief video here on KZbin of Don fishing some of Ray Scott’s early Classics.

@@davidparker9022 thanks for the info. I’ve seen the book before but always thought it was more of a fishing book/catalog and passed on it, I’ll definitely check it out
