'71 and'72 Mercury Marquis Broughams are my favorite styled Mercurys of the early '70's. All of the styling elements flow together so well.

I had this identical car (mine was a 4 dr) and it was a remarkably comfortable ride...sort of like driving a waterbed. The only issue I had was with the vacuum lines....this model had headlight doors and door locks that were all vacuum operated and one cracked or leaking line made the system lose enough pressure that none of the vacuum accessories would function properly. Still, a true luxury classic that I remember fondly.

I remember the Mercury television commercial for the 1970s Mercury Marquis Brougham Four-door Sedan, there was a couple sitting there they were sitting in the dark green back seat, drinking cups of tea in fine china, and not spilling a drop, emphasizing the quiet smooth ride of this luxe-boat... the commercial announcer said "We have Mr and Mrs Dabney Coleman of Beverly Hills with us... blahblahblah. I wondered: Who are these people? What makes them so special? It's my Mercury that makes them special, right? To be fair, Coleman later became famous for his role as the evil boss-man in "9-to-5" lol

The color, the black vinyl roof, the plush crisscross design on the interior and beautiful detailing design on the doors, to the rear wheel covers and low rear lights and hidden headlights make this one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen! Me and grandma lifted from the the back whole rear went up and down . Mom hit her nose on the rear view mirror. On impact looking and having conversation with grandma . Only damage was the header panel cracked Leaking radiator and drove home . The Datsun. We’ve seen the horrible stories of that daily . But it saved our lives definitely that day. 429 is a beast of a motor 1977 460 wasn’t even close
