I took apart the distributor to inspect, clean and paint it a few months ago so it is time to get it assembled. The fuel pump needed rebuilding as well, but we found an issue with it. Let's see if we can fix it.

Fabulous Ellin. Just got the head back for My GT6 MK1 motor. I must mask it off, then paint the head. I’m not near as far along with all the accessories to mount on the motor. For my fuel pump I got the glass bulb type along with the after filter it matches it so I’ve got to figure out how I’m going to mount the other after filter in line. Your tutorials are literally invaluable to me, because so many times I’ve gone back to the Stanpart shop manuals, and they don’t have great illustrations at all, nor do their photos, the photos or less than perfect and absolutely obscured most of the time 😳😳 so your tutorials really shine a lot of clarity🙏🙏👍👍

Hi Elin, you're getting ever closer to starting her up!! Good fix on the fuel pump and thanks for sharing your tales of woe with your old car, I guess we've all done things wrong and suffered the consequences, hopefully learned from them as well. I can't remember if this came up when you installed the electronic ignition, but seeing you refitting the points and condenser it reminded me to ask if the condenser is now integrated into the ignition pack, I assume it must be. Thanks for showing us the green GT6, what a lovely colour. Have a great weekend and good luck from Spain!!

Elin, I don't know what started your love for Triumphs, but mine was started when I was a pre-teen and my boy scout friend's Mother had a LHD Triumph Herald 1200 Estate back in England, then in 1978, my Mother and I found a 1974 Triumph 2000TC Saloon for my Father who was then working in Saudi Arabia. He bought me a 1967 Triumph Herald 1200 Convertible in 1981, as a starter classic, which we restored and mechanically modified, I kept that car until 1998, when I finally sold it as I had by then 'finished' building my 1963-1971 Triumph Vitesse Mk.2 Convertible, (took from 1984-1997) and emigrated with it to the USA in 2002, I am still mechanically modifying and improving it, I am 64+ now and running out of energy! In the UK, we like to support the underdog! What's your story?😮

Very informative Elin.. The fuel pump rebuild was very interesting. Back in the day, I never would have bothered as a new replacement was so reasonably priced. I seem to remember some post 1972 GT6's were fitted with a Delco Remy dizzy.. The first cars had a Lucas 22D6 from memory. Great video and looking forward to the continuation of the assembly.

Eighth! You must have posted this video just after I went to the garage to make up some patches for my TR6. Time for me to practice what I learned from you and David. Keep advancing on Anna, She will be running before you know it.

Taking your Spitfire to the car show were you happy with the way it ran after setting it with the analyzer?

Oh, yeah, she definitely runs much better now. I figured the timing got retarded over the years due to the slack on the chain. I need to take care of that.

Why not a helicoil?
@RustyBeauties
@RustyBeauties Жыл бұрын
I didn't want to make the hole bigger than what it was already. Also I am not a fan of the helicoil. If I had no other option but to go to a bigger size I would have made my own step stud. But what I did was the fastest, the easiest and the cheapest way :) without compromising the quality or the look.

Your Distributor. You call it vacuum retard but think again. You said that the shaft turns clockwise and when you pressure activated the the diaphragm the plate rotated anti/counter clockwise. Since your points are mounted to that plate then to move them anticlock means that they meet the cam lobe earlier. Isn't that action then a vacuum advance (earlier) ????

If I said the shaft turns clockwise I made a mistake. I don’t remember but it is possible. The shaft turns counter clockwise and that is why this is a vacuum retard.
