That's a fine car right there. Mine is almost the same except LS swapped. I appreciate your help with my swap.

Big LS guy here and you are 100% right. Not one LS sounds better than the old convential motors. My favorite sounding motor is the 90s 302 motors.

Great Ole Skool vid, I have a 78 LT. You should talk to her about doing the following: 1. Wiring up the electric choke 2. Install a new bracket for the throttle and kick down cable (detent, amazon has some nice ones) 3. Rebuild or install a new carb (something is up with that carb) 4. Install a HEI distributor Install rubber valve cover gasket for her since the car sits a lot and have her put non ethanol gas in it if she can. Also check the transmissions vacuum module and see if it is hooked up to intake vacuum not carb vacuum.

Points distributor?? Swap to an HEI, even a stock junkyard HEI will improve driveability dramatically. Don't get me wrong, a points distributor and a good super coil will do great, if you don't mind setting and adjusting points every once in a while. For her,...since she's not into tinkering with old cars....HEI. Be sure to also junk the inline resistor when HEI swapping. That body is the best lookin 2nd gen camaro in my opinion.

Not sure what I think about the Camaro…I think I’m more of a 67-69 guy. Tbh, I’m an old truck guy. Got a ‘58 GMC 100 swapped with a LT1. Currently building a ‘72 C10 swapped with a 6.0L LS w/ iron heads.. Once the weather here in Indiana returns to normal, I’ll be working on a ‘52 Ford F1 of which I’m body swapping onto a 2006 Ford Explorer chassis w/ 4.6L V8. Keep up the good work!! Check em all out on my KZbin channel Krusty!!

I noticed you’re in Texas, I’m north of Houston. No fan on the alternator will cause it to burn up, take the fan and the pulley off the old alternator and try to swap them over to the new one. The detent or “kick down” cable if not properly adjusted can burn the transmission up. It tells the transmission where the gas pedal is. Temp seemed high, none of my Camaros ran over 180, it should have a seven blade clutch fan, take that flex fan off it. I went back to verify when you were looking at the power steering belt, it’s a flex fan. You can buy the fan and the clutch in reproductions, just be sure to buy the seven blade heavy duty fan and a heavy duty clutch. Flush the system, it’s a 50 year old car. I am not criticizing you, I only offer advice, I’m the same age as the car and I’ve had several second and third gen Fbodies. It is a nice car!

@ Thank you for not thinking I was a troll or just a jerk. I definitely do not know everything, but the one perk of being old is having the knowledge from back in the day to share. I’m pretty sure you could teach me a thing or two about HP tuners (or any other tuning software). I hope to see more about the Camaro, and your cars.

Those are idle fuel flow screws in the front. Closing them while running should kill the engine from fuel starvation. It didn't die because you have the transfer slots fully exposed in the primary venturies by running the throttle blade screw in too far on the driver's side of the carb. You should take the carb off, visually "square" the transfer slots and leave that screw alone after install. Use a timing light to set timing at idle and use a vacuum gauge and the idle circuit screws on the front to set idle speed. Transfer slots are used to transition from idle circuit fueling to main circuit fueling when the throttle is opened. With too much slot exposed you will be running really rich at idle and likely have a huge stumble when you crack the throttle open under load since there is no effective slot to pull fuel from at transition since it's all being used at idle. Sincerely, Boomer
