I vaguely remember this ad! I was 7 at the time, but the tire torture test Is familar! We didnt switch to radials until '78 until then, we had bias ply and a pair of snow tires!😅

I agree, my friend had a 1978 LTD which was an ex KY state patrol car.....460 power...130mph easy with 5 aboard.

Interesting how obsessed America became over mileage and energy savings within just a few months in 73. Wonder if it would have been even bigger with social media or if it would have been less chaotic.
