Assembly of the shifting mechanism on a 73 CB750. There are over 20 parts in this assembly and they all have to be installed properly for the mechanism to function as it was designed to.

I have not got into an engine since the old two stroke days. That is 40 years ago. There is a whole to these 4 stroke engines. I admire that you can remember the steps and parts. You must do this a lot.

Crazy how much goes into shifting gears on a bike. I had no idea what was happening in there. Very cool to see how it works...and to get a better idea for what might be wrong if things aren't shifting correctly.

Wow that shift assembly is really overkill, In my 1982 Suzuki gsx 750 the shift assembly is really simple and effective. Love your vids Dean!

Hello Sir, yeah great video. I also miss these bike series. Hopefully you'll do some more. You were my inspiration to rebuild my 1978 Yamaha XS750 Triple engine. Keep up the great work. Thank you for sharing your mechanic experience. There are a lot of us out there that benefit greatly from your videos. Take care, Max.

Hello, fantastic series, very useful, well done. Any idea where I can buy this spring (just below your fingers at 10.15). The tensioner spring for gear drum actuating arm. I live in France, very hard to get Honda parts. I wondered if you could help, keep up the great work, thank you. David
Great vid! I have a 1975 CB 750 and am planning ongetting inside the shifter case! I am assuming you have to drain the oil before. I thought there might be some oil in there!

I need your help! All my components and springs are working fine and I don't have anything broke or missing. As soon as I put all the the screws on the cover plate, the gear shift lever would not return. It's binding.

Hey, im having issues with my shifter assembly, i can only shift into first gear, and neutral and cant get into 2,3,4,5th... likely the spring in the arm lever like you said?.. that first big spring, which i cant find anywhere.. can i just bring this old one to a hardware store and find a generic spring that matches?

Your videos have helped me a lot. But this gear shift assembly has got me stumped. You.make it look so simple to get the first stopper arm on. I can only get it on if I hold the spring in place over the nut with a pair of pliers. I couldn't possibly do it just using my fingers as you do. And as soon as I release the pliers the spring just pushes back off the nut. I'm starting to think the arm on the spring is TOO long and that it is not the original spring. I just can't see how I could get the neutral stoppee arm om without an extra pair of hands to hold that first spring in place.
