So happy I found this video. My son surprised me and made me a 3D printed rigid heddle loom. I have woven on floor looms and table looms but never a rigid heddle. I am anxious to give it a try now that I saw your video.

Just curious how you fixed the slight splay on the goalposts. I got one cheap that was missing springs, now it's at the point where it's beautiful... if I clamp it together. Tiny splay but it's creating just enough friction to mess up the movement.
@HackaweekTVКүн бұрын
Oh that's tricky. If you try to bend it back it might crack. But, if you're very careful you might get lucky. Be very careful.
@ladycharlesmusicКүн бұрын
@@HackaweekTV Thanks - I was able to improve it a little by carefully clamping it, might try shaving down the edge of the piston slightly to eliminate the friction instead of messing with cast aluminum more. It looks like the previous owner did that on one side already and that side moves more freely. Appreciated your videos, helped a lot with understanding the basic design!

Why not show installing the top where the springs & slides go in. Especially if you ever do a video on the ones that have four cables going in on some of the 1969 & 1970s like mine.

Hurray for your ingenuity. I might suggest one little variation.. the metal hook on teh back of hte saxophone is quite soft metal and you'll notice that most professional sax neck straps have a plastic, hard rubber or at last rubber coated hook. Over time that metal hook may wear and break your ring on the back. Yes, it might not happen right away, but for a $3 hook, why risk it?

Hey Dean, where is the space heater?? I have a 3D printer table that could use some beefing up. It is much bigger than a chair. But if I clean it up like you did I think it will stiffen it up and give me less ringing in my prints.
@HackaweekTV13 күн бұрын
If you're referring to the noise, it's the main air handler for the HVAC system. A solid table does help with a 3D printer.
@sarathai287613 күн бұрын
@HackaweekTV no not the noise most workshops don't have heat or air I assumed you had a space heater somewhere on the floor

I don't understand. Why did you not take the wood dowels out of all of them? Won't that be a weak point for the chair to fail again?

You are right, i built the original circuit and it never worked because the resistor values were all wrong
@Synthematix14 күн бұрын
Its a tuned circuit, therefore the resistors will never be identical from person to person, this is due to the transistors gain being slightly different, in my case all the 10k resistors were replaced with 5.1k only then would it work.

Hold on a second. If the plunger has no key-way what prevents it from rotating to where the flat spot is out or for that matter rotating 90 degrees and jamming up?
@HackaweekTV18 күн бұрын
At 23:30 you can see how the plunger has to line up in such a way that the actuator cam holds it from rotating.

Thanks for this! I am wondering how necessary the threaded funnel part is. I don't have access to a 3D printer, and would love to attempt this process in the next few days. How crucial is that threaded bottle? Can a regular funnel be used? Any tips on this part would be appreciated! I'm in Long Beach, CA.
@HackaweekTV20 күн бұрын
A regular funnel is tricky because it will leak. The idea is to have a continuous uninterrupted flow of brake fluid. You may be able to twist a tight fitting rubber hose in there and put some sort of container on the hose, but you'll have to support it somehow.
@gregernst724919 күн бұрын
@@HackaweekTV Thanks so much for the info. It's a big job for a guy like me, so these details are super helpful. I'm going to see if someone in my neighborhood has a 3D printer and can pop that file out for me. Gathering resources, man! Cheers.

What did you use to rid the parts of the hardened grease? Nothing I have tried has worked. I saw that you used brake cleaner spray for a final rinse, but did you use some kind of solvent to get rid of the caked on grease? Great video.
@HackaweekTV24 күн бұрын
Try Naptha and a bottle brush. You may have to soak it for a while.

@@HackaweekTV Tried soaking parts in naphtha. That helped but still did not really cut the waxified grease. I mostly needed to scrape it away, which was tricky with the springs but I did get it. Thanks so much for your help and advice!
