Hey Peggy,, yeah we'd watch Porter after dinner,, (we ate late dinners),, then we'd go to network shows like All in the Family..

Back then in the Liverpool area,we got 1 hours Country per week on National Radio and 2 hours on our two local stations…no TV!

My dad was the country music fan. He grew up in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, birthplace of the Dorsey Bros. But all his buddies liked hillbilly music. One had a National lap steel with a cast iron body! You could pick up WWVA from Wheeling WV, even on the Philly side of PA. And WSN too. And I think alot of GIs from WWII got exposed to country music in the Army. He referred to steel guitar as "Hawaiian guitar." Old school!
