I recently bought a ‘72 140 H1, and was happy to find it. It has a sleeve hitch, and it’s in nice condition….Hood, headlight panel, seat, you name it….all nice. I just have to get it running. Suspect that the battery was the problem, as one post came out in my hand when I was trying to get the cable terminal off the post. What can fit onto that sleeve hitch? I’ve seen a number of sleeve hitches, but never anything that attaches to them until a recent video showing a rear grader blade of some kind, that was attached to it. -it wasn’t a Deere, was black in color. Will a plastic battery box fit in that tiny battery tray? I ask, because I don’t want the battery leaking and corroding that tray.

@@patrickflohe7427 Very nice. The sleeve hitch is for the Brinly attachments. I have the plow, grader blade, box blade, and the cultivator. You can also purchase other items like a rake, planter, even a hitch adapter to move trailers around. Not sure about a battery box fitting the small area.

I’d like to know a little bit more about where you source parts, paint, tires etc. I have an old 63 cub cadet original I’m looking to start restoring this winter. Would love to know where to get parts for that. Maybe a series on the restoration process on a few of your projects. Always looking forward to your videos and the backstories on what you find. Thanks

Well the paint issue is a bit different for the cubs. I haven’t found a spray paint that’s exact. there is a color made called marigold by rustoleum that is close. Otherwise it will need mixed and sprayed. I use the rustoleum jd green and I have the patio paint mixed at Napa. The parts are different too. I use hapco parts for the John Deere tractors and eBay for a lot of used parts. Engine parts I get from Isavetractors.com. I’m going to try a restoration video soon. It’s a lot harder than it looks. I also have a cub original that I’ll be doing soon. Thanks for watching.

Recently picked up a JD model 60 and a 110. Model 60 is missing the original motor and much of the under the hood parts. Cosmetically it’s amazing. Worth restoring? The 110 I haven’t had going yet, is complete with a hyd lift. Everything seems to be there. Does have a leak coming out of the right rear hub. New seals? Bearings? Your content is great by the way.

The 60s are pretty cool little tractors. I have one on this channel a few years back I completed the restoration on after it was started. Engines are super hard to find. Probably best to located another 60 or 70for parts. The rear will need inner seals on the 110, Possibly bearings. The only down side is the entire assembly will need dropped out to get to the seals in the axle housing. A few bolts they made impossible to do in the tractor. Not a super hard job though. Glad you like the channel. 👍

Appreciate the response and info. I picked these tractors up to run around the yard with the kids. Hope I can get at least one going soon. Would my local JD dealer have seals and bearings? Or use Hapco? I’m in Ontario Canada.

What’s the left side pedal for? I was thinking maybe you could do a video on the features of these 140s, and maybe a comparison with the 120 as well? A lot of people, including myself, didn’t know these had a seat adjuster lever (supposedly from ‘72 on), cigarette lighter, some had a single brake and some had two drums, etc. Also, I’ve noticed the headlight wiring is often disconnected and / or removed on these, so maybe a video on the wiring? I’ve noticed a difference in the voltage regulators, as far size and number of terminal connections. Best of all, would be a video showing all of your implements being attached / used with the sleeve hitch. I think my favorites would be the grader blade, box scraper, and last but not least, the trailer hitch adaptor -if you have one. For my arthritic back and knee, that would be great to put the ball under the tongue and lift it with the tractor.

You say you might sell this or others? Where are you located, so they can be seen?

No 140's for sale at the moment. really not much at all for sale. I move the collection around from time to time as I can't keep them all. I'm north east of St.Louis Mo. on the Illinois side.
