This is the final "Gen 2" Phase III Camaro of 12 produced by the folks in house at Baldwin Motion Performance in 1973 located in Baldwin New York. Baldwin Motion was a collaboration between Baldwin Chevy & Motion Performance owned by Joel Rosen. Its totally restored to its original race spec but is fully street legal.

First saw one of these in a magazine. It had 4.88 gears with a Hone over drive unit that reduced the ratio to 3.42. Nasty car.

The engine is a ZLX 454 it’s the Cast iron version close to what you might ad a LS7 12 To 1 compression engine now the cam could be the ZL1 180 cam or motions J cam which I would love to get my hands on the zlX is basically a all cast iron L88 the iron heads used are very similar to the 074 aluminum open head heads with round exhaust ports but cast iron I believe they might just be the 076 castings I’ve seen a pair of these heads very nice but heavy and rare more rare than the 074 aluminum heads

That might be the last 1973 Motion Car. but it was not the last motion Camaro. there is a picture of a Blue 1974 Motion Camaro in Teran, Iran circa 2007 in Martyn L Schorr's book on motion performance. Joel Rosen has always been really tight lipped about how many cars he made. but i know it was way more than 12 by 1973. that may be the 12th and final Camaro he made that year, but i know there are way more than that total. it's a very cool car. and i would love to have one, but these things bring ridiculous prices. I happen to own a vintage set of motion valve covers, mine don't have a black motion badge glue to them like most, mine have a red Motion Super Chevrolet sticker. I believe they are from the mid 70s. they were new in a box with a motion performance parts catalog with some silver and black mylar Motion Performance Stickers. I have had them since the mid 80s. I plan to use them on my 70 Camaro SS 396 4 speed car that i am in the process of building. I would love to find an old Edelbrock tarantula manifold and one of those weird 3-barrel Holley that Joel used on those phase III cars.

'Standard' L-S-6? I thought Motion had the L-88 or ZL-1 cam and 12.5 compression? Basic LS-6 was the same as the 427/425. I would bring it up for a few runs. 9.6 ET?? I would have to see that in action, 9.6 was PRO STOCK times in the mid 70's
@zxtenn
@zxtenn Жыл бұрын
@@generallao1554 Yes but the 427 had several versions, 427/425 then the L-88 with more radical cam and 12.5 compression. I would have to see that run any faster than mid 12's with a standard LS-6. in 69 Yenko used the 427/425 and i think only Motion got upgraded to the L-88 if you wanted it. In 1975 i built a 67 Yenko clone, it was a 427/425 with 456 gears and a 4 speed, good thing i worked at a Shell station then.

It's a cool car, love the body style. Paint work looks nice but the panel gaps suck for such a valuable car. All in all it's a crappy designed roll bar with crappy welds. Hard to believe Motion put that in there.

11s for the average rich muscle car head guy but if you was a real racer he would build you one to go sub 9s in the quarter just saying but money talks as well. The person who owns this car and that room it's in is very very rich
