1973 Moto Guzzi Off of the Road for 40 Years Part 1

In this video we go and pick up a 1973 Moto Guzzi motorcycle that was given to me by my father. It has not been registered since 1980 and has not run since 1996. This will be the first video in a series. I believe it is an Eldorado or a California model. It has what I believe to be called the police dash since these bikes were used in at least California as an alternative police bike to Harley Davidson. The dashboard only has a speedometer and no tachometer. It will need a lot of work.

Great project bike. Old Guzzi’s have recently piqued my interest. As someone from northeast PA, that PSU sweatshirt caught my eye. More than a few of my paychecks have found there way there. Also the very first thing I noticed was that beautiful old Chevy pick up truck with such great patina. I would love to have a truck like that, but up here they have been restored or have since returned to the earth in the form of rust. I will need to go find the rest of the videos on this project. Thanks for taking the time to make them.

My wife is from northeast AP and I spent 4 and a half years of my life getting a Mechanical Engineering degree from Penn State. I happened to get lucky when I found my 1962 Chevy C-10 here in North Carolina. They are pretty hard to find here these days. The patina is about 85% fake. I have painted and clear coated it that way tp preserve it until I can give it a proper paint job. Thanks for watching!

1973.5 California because it has the dual front shoes and chrome fenders. These bikes were full dress with faring and hard bags. Dual front shoes were only done the second half of 1973. Front disc brakes were introduced in 1974. Great bike! I have a California that I have converted into an Eldorado police look -- removed the faring and changed out the hard bags for original California Highway Patrol leather bags.

I don't have anything planned for the 912. I am hoping I am done spending money and time on it for a while. I would like new carpet but that is pretty pricey.

Thisoldtractor.com is an excellent resource for all Guzzi loop frame info. I own a late 71 Ambassador myself. Enjoy the ride and keep us posted on your progress.

I have used that site for pretty much all of my research. I hope these videos will be a good help for people. There does not appear to be much out there.
