This is great to be able to watch this. I was 4 years old at the time in a Mets household, but I have no memory of the 73 world series.

I remember this game. I believe it was on a Saturday and I also recall Holtzman getting a double. The irony is that it was the first year of the DH and he had not had an at bat, yet, his first time up he gets a double!

First inning and first at bat for Willie Mays. The count is 2-2 when Willie takes a clear full swing that should have been strike three but the plate umpire called it a check swing. Lol. Holtzman looking at the ump in total surprise. Next pitch Willie drives the ball into left field for a base hit. Classic Willie. But that's respect by the ump to give that very generous call on the check swing. Willie was 42 years old and had already announced his retirement when he joined the Mets. The Say Hey Kid..RIP Willie #24

@@michaelleroy9281yep. The regular season attendance was pretty bad even in the early to mid 70s glory years, except for the playoffs and World Series. Got worse when Finley dismantled the team, better with the arrival of Rickey Henderson and Billy Martin, bad again when Rickey left for New York, then, as you say, much better with Canseco, McGwire and the 88-92 mini-dynasty…but yeah, really, never consistently good regular season attendance for any long stretch of years during their entire time in Oakland, as far as I’m aware.

Now that Larry's Classic Sports Videos has uploaded all the available game footage of Game 2, I hope you decide to fill the remaining holes with the Game 2 radio broadcast and reconstruct the whole game. Game 2 is the game most in need of it.

Tom Seaver gave this championship to Oakland when he convinced Yogi to start him in game 6 on 2 days rest. Yogi wanted to keep Seaver for game 7. George Stone had a 12-4 record and should have started game 6.
