@littleliz73313 жыл бұрын
Why would you want to charge liquid to the compressor? I've done automotive ac for 25 years now and have always charged liquid to the low suction side. It was the way we were taught by Delco in our ac class. Maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years. Luckily I've never had any problems.

Yeah. Turn your Freon bottle upside down and use ac compressor to pull in Freon on the low side.
@kb3kyx3 жыл бұрын
Randy is technically correct, in HVAC it's proper to set in the inital charge after pulling a vacuum in the high side as to not "slug" the compressor upon start up, the high side is always liquid anyways so you don't run the risk of damaging compressor components by trying to compress liquid. Not saying your way doesn't work, I have done it both ways.

Did you make sure the valves at the compressor were open? When charging they and using gauges they need to be centered and when in operation back seated to close the charging ports. Compressor circuit is powered through the high and low pressure switches and the blower motor. The condenser motors maybe hooked in the same circuit. That system is similar to the 5400 chopper we had. Chances are if that condenser is plugged internally you’re going to want another expansion valve and dryer. I’ve had dryers plug. Flush all the lines if you break that system open again, you don’t want to knock that new compressor out. I use 3M brake cleaner or electric contact cleaner, they do make a/c flush. Spray in and blow out with compressed air, don’t try to flush through the expansion valve or the dryer. I disconnect at those items and flush the sections individually. That’s what I do right or wrong but, it works for me and we have a lot of air conditioners on our place. Best of luck it can be frustrating!

AC’s can be a pain in the ass! You buy older equipment and make some upgrades to it and maintain it. Your doing well no need to justify the cost ratio. If your happy that’s all that matters. You’ll figure it out, AC is hard not to have with a cab, it gets hotter with it being closed and windows…
@Dairyland-Dairyman3 жыл бұрын
If you buy used from tractor parts asap they warranty there used stuff one year. If that evaporator is pulled out already they probably flushed it and pressure tested it to make sure it's good. They do have pick and pull at most of there yards for parts. But used stuff off the rack is usually checked over, and like I said they do warranty it a year, and really do stand behind it.

I always go by pressure on the low side 35-45 psi on the refrigerant not the pounds of liquid. Be carful just running straight power to your ac pump. It should kick on when you reach pressure. You have low and high side pressure switches. They cut out on low pressure and high. Also if you have not changed the orifice you need to. You might already know all this do disregard if you already know. Good luck.

@JaredJanhsen3 жыл бұрын
I would never liquid charge an air conditioner where the low side line goes straight into the compressor. Not even when using the newer manifold gauges with the built-in orifice and sight glass. You send a slug of liquid into the compressor and you will ruin it along with needing to clean out the entire system before replacing with a new compressor. I have seen my old man do this exact thing on a 4840 John Deere when liquid charging. Luckily the belts on the tractor were old AF and snapped before the compressor was ruined. Newer systems with the Low Line going into the accumulator, you can liquid charge those all day long without risk of damaging the compressor.

Since the AC was inactive for a long time, I am guessing you have not driven all the moisture out of the circuit. Leave the vacuum pump on overnight and put a drop light / heat source by the receiver dryer to purge it. If this does not work, check for any obstruction at the expansion valve - maybe it is not opening. Can be frustrating but hang in there.

I’d have started with a can or two of Rx11 flush first to blow out the system and old mineral oil. Alright. For all those HVAC guys saying charge with bottle upside down. Why?? After initial charge if you do so while running the compressor you will slug it trying to charge on the low side.
