I think the Monza is a really great-looking car. Underrated on styling. My buddy in high school had a Monza in 1985. I believe his was a 1976? Man, we must’ve smoked 20lbs. of weed in that car. In the winter, we’d park at the mall and fog up all the windows with our breath. Then we’d smoke, drink, and jam the radio for hours.

Nice car !! I had a 1977 Monza Mirage. I pulled the 305 out and installed a 350 4 bolt mains, 2.02 heads, 10-1 pistons. It would just sizzle those little 13" tires, Lol

I had a 79 305 plain Jane. I built the 305 with comp cam, heads cut to 1.94 intake, ported. Kept the factory intake and exhaust manifolds. Dual exhaust. Painted it 76 Corvette yellow. Added spoilers from Dobi. 60 series 13"s. A guy built me an awesome turbo 350. Would bark the 1-2 shift everytime you were a little on it. It had a strong mid range pull with those high gears. Topped out about 135. This was early 90's. It couldn't beat an IROC in the 1/4 but it could pass it easy from a rolling start. Fun car. Wonder it didn't get me arrested. And the brakes? Yeah they wre good to about 75mph.😮

Had a "75 in the late "70s. Punched out 350 being fed by 780 Holley on a Edelbrock Tarantula manifold and out the headers!...All the local big-block, and 4 speed owners would chuckle at the starting line and cry at the finish line! 2.02 heads and stock 13" rubber never had so much fun...

Travis you remind me of myself back in 1980! had a 262 cu inch Monza at the time and cut my hot rodding teeth on it before buying a camaro and nova later on. I too live in calif and hope your car is smog exempt, which I think it is! Some suggestions: although you may like your carb, all the Holley based fuel mixers are temperamental and difficult at times to tune, look at the ebelbrock AFB, a 600cfm (not the 750!) would be ideal for your car and would let you hook up the PCV as well. They are dead reliable, cheaper and wont piss fuel all over your hot manifold should fuel pressure rise too high. Please put some insulation over those nice accel spark plug wires that kiss the exhaust! Once you have the car all sorted out, it would do well in both drag racing and cruising, but do keep your wondrous burnouts far from law enforcement, otherwise they will force you to reconvert everything youve done to the car back to stock! I know the temptation to street race with your ride is over the top, but keep well away from that activity otherwise either a crash or law enforcement will take your ride away from you through asset seizure, nothing you can do to stop it once you are caught street racing. Otherwise, damn fine car and best of luck getting it to run well!

You know on the end of the air injection line where the rubber hose hooks up is a check valve a vacuum cap would actually seal it off as long as it didn't melt. the only reason you need to do that is to keep it from sucking air in at deceleration. Did you put an o-ring on that sending unit I'm guessing you did it just didn't show on the video. put bigger squirters in the carburetor it should be more responsive than that. And the distributor advanced way too much. Mad respect for using that Westside Birmingham ignition key. Hook the vacuum advance up make sure the actuators working it will make a big difference
@travisblack417
@travisblack417 2 жыл бұрын
That check valve wasn’t functional, plus I wanted to delete as much of the air tube as possible. The sender o-ring was replaced as well.

I'm a weakling, but this should change that lol. Last non-PS car was a 4cyl Mustang II and I could crank that wheel at a stop, but that was several hundred pounds lighter in the nose so I underestimated the Monza. The floppy column didn't help either

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars, trucks and busses including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

California will be doing all electrical cars by 2030 they said, so no more gas powered cars in California. Soon all these cars will be extinct. All the Mechanics will only be going to school for electric car repairs and brakes etc.
