Brilliant opener!!!! A very fine arrangement of Peter Mennin's "Canzona"...one of the best works ever composed for the concert band,

They are using slingerland, snare drums, they sound fantastic the way a real drum should sound. Thank you for this post, it brings back great memories. Today is May 29th 2022.

we started the season with Ludwig Vistilites, it didn't take long to realize those drums couldn't handle the cranking, actually, lugs pulled out of the shells. we were all happy to go back to the TDRs. 1975 Snare Line

I marched in Corps in a nearby city to Lacrosse, WI in the 60's, when the Blue Stars had uniforms essentially the same as in this video. I remember their all girl color guard with the shorts and white boots whether on the field or in parades were a jaw dropper to everyone who had the chance to watch them. Their rifle squad was among the best in the country. And to the comment by Jerry D. try listening to the song at 3:45 as they march down the 50 yard line away from the camera, it will stay in your head for days if you play it a few times. A great corps from their earliest days in the 60's.

First Federal Blue Stars they were a great drum and bugle Corps. fantastic ,one great Drumline, and a great Color Guard and they had everything going for them I wish they were around today. missed by many many people. I was at that contest in Philadelphia Pennsylvania Franklin Field got to see them live many times when they came to the East Coast. Former member of the Long Island sunrises, 1964 through 1968.

The Blue Stars have been operating in World class again since 2006 and have been a consistent finalist corps from 2013 to now. I think they only folded for a few years in the mid eighties. Their 2019 show Call of the Wild was fantastic, and the color guard was absolutely stunning. The Corps itself had much less dancing than other corps at the same level. Give it a watch, the finals recording is stunning.

they almost folded at one point but worked their way back up from Div III all the way to Div I again in 2007

A great corps, but yeah...there are some problems in the horn line. Guard work looks great. I'm not qualified to judge the drum line, but it sounds pretty tight to me. Best thing....and this is always true of Blue Star....is the drill design. Some of the nicest formations ever during that period.

I don't know the second tune. Can someone help me out? Considering the drill set, I'm assuming the tune has something to do with Chicago.

Back in 1975, we still had many, Real Drum and bugle Corps. Today is May 5th 2022. Seems like a million years ago. I pretty much stopped watching the activity today. Because in my opinion DCI has turned what was once a great activity for youth throughout the United States and Canada. They turned it into a three-ring circus with a marching band embedded in it. Between the United States and Canada, there were approximately 7,000 drum and bugle Corp. Many of those Corps, we're not necessarily competing, in marching and maneuvering, many of them just did parades, as well as standstill competition. Any of them or feeder course for the competing Corps. Also DCI, never did encourage kids to go on into competing senior c o r p s. Today is May 5th 2022

@@crwnguy And that fact should worry you. But you're clueless. Some day they'll get around to monetizing the air you breathe. I'd say you were marching to your doom, but that would be inaccurate. You're dancing and twerking.

@@groovsmyth people like you are disgrace to the activity even for the marching bands of today. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I can speak from experience you can't. @@crwnguy You are a child....and you are wrong. Many care. It's a shame that DCI corps have shunned real marching and precision in guard work, for free form dancing with no precision at all. Yeah, it's showy and everything, but it has left the heart of drum corps behind. If you don't care, that's up to you. But your reply has all the tone of a snotty middle school brat who thinks he knows everything.
