Very strange decision of Rodgers part to suggest that, I don't understand the benefit. As Pink Floyd said don't give me that do goody good BS about sportsmanship. If you can take down Frank Shorter, you do it and if you can't, you can't, don't wuss out and settle for a tie.

It was a relatively unimportant 10 mile race, Bill explains why well at the end -- it just didn't matter enough to each of them, may as well share the win. A big race no question they'd have "busted their asses" to win at end, here no point. And made a nice statement about fellowship.

@@martinfleischmann9787 Exactly. If it had been a race for a world title or huge prize money, it'd be worth puking your guts out to push hard all the way to the finish. But, in a low-key race, it's pretty cool to have the two best American distance runners (at the time) share a win. Love it!

legends without egos don't need confirmation or validation...it's not about the win...it was a partnership-friendship....winning together.
