The race you are about to see appear as originally broadcast and may contain imagery that is offensive and doesn't align with NASCAR's values. NASCAR has since permanently banned the display of the confederate flag at all events.

These races are 1000 times better than the new stuff. Thanks so much for posting. Cars look fantastic and the sound is glorious.

The LAST guy you want to see in your rearview mirror with one lap to go was David Pearson.

DW had already won a couple races and began his career by leading laps during the Talladega 500. He wasn't such a long shot.

David Pearson was the best. The ol silver fox was truly a driver!

@natureboy1313 in my opinion he was the best all time. If he would've ran full seasons there is no telling how many more wins he would've gotten.

@@joshhuffine4522 Dude he had a remarkable record. Guy had so many top tens. Petty had so much praise for him. He is not forgotten.

1976 1. Austin City Limits premieres on PBS during Season 1, and Austin City Limits went national; each episode begins with the soundcheck, using as the audio to accompany the opening sequence. 2. Charlie's Angels in its 1st season during the 1976-1977 season on ABC. Laverne & Shirley premieres on ABC during Season 1, and Season 2 during the 1976-1977 season. Johnny Duncan had a country hit featuring Janie Fricke on the country charts with "Thinkin' of a Rendezvous". 👍

Born in 72, I was just thinking about the 75 or 76 slant nose Laguna S3 my older had in HS in 86-87. Back then I didn't too much of the car. But started reading up on them. The slant nose in 75 gave the Lagunas a major aerodynamic advantage in NASCAR for a couple years before officials caught on.Which brought me here to see how many slant noses were in the race. Sadly my brothers Laguna probably ended up In scrapyard crusher. They didn't make many slant nose versions. They were never considered a sought after 60s or 70s car. But I think they're starting to climb in value. I think it'd be a cool car to restomod. There's a video of a Sema non slant nose restomod that's pretty cool.

I had to replay the part where Pearson is asked what it feels like to win consecutive Daytona 500s, which of course this was his first. Did Chris Economaki actually know anything about motorsports, or was he just a pretty talker who glided through a broadcasting career based on that alone?
